LM- Sketchy seasons-winter

I'm back for the final Lasting Memories sketchy season challenge- winter

I originally thought the photos were from New Year's Eve but as I shuffled through them more I found the photo with the food and one with the kids watching Macy's Day parade.  I cut the TV photo and overlaid it on top of the other image that was on the screen, Thanksgiving it is and not Winter at all.
So I created another layout with Winter photos this time.  For my January Birthday celebration, I booked a brunch trip on the Santiam Steam Train.  I used some super old CM paper that was originally a 6x6 paper album that I pulled apart.  I used the ticket as both the title and as an embellishment

Thanks for coming by to check out my two layouts.

CM "leave nothing behind"

I'm up to my last layout from this past weekend's crop and want to thank you for coming back again to see what I did.  This time I used the "Leave nothing behind" collection.  I did a little tearing to create the border.  One of the ladies I was sitting next to asked how I did it to create the white edge.  We had a lengthy discussion about the CM tearing tool and how that could be used to make something similar as I did mine free hand

CM 2021 NSD paper

Following along the use it or lose it theme I dug into some older stash to create these layouts from the  2021 National Scrapbook Day kit.  It's very heavy in greens and shamrocks but worked perfectly to document my oldest daughter's Birthday dinner.

The layout below is a work in progress.  I still need a title cut for it.
I'm thinking along the lines of "Who wears them better?" as my son had my daughter's glasses on.
The larger heart is actually cut from the packaging backer card, love using packaging for additional embellishments

Thank you for stopping by to take a look

Super old CM Halloween

I'm really not sure how old this paper is other than it came as 8x8 sheets which I spliced together and hid the seams.  The vertical seam is under the right-hand side photos and the horizontal is covered with the pumpkin cutouts and banners.  I also used some 3D elements from another CM Halloween kit.  I'm challenging myself to get rid of the old stuff.  Either use it, share it, or pitch it.  What I don't use will be heading out soon for a flatRAK with my fellow FB use your scrap group

Thanks for stopping by, hope you're inspired to use your older stash

April 15 SIT

I thought I'd share a cute kitten layout inspired by Sketches in Thyme
 April 15th layout

I interpreted the angled element as a torn piece of paper, but it could be a stamped or stenciled element as well.

I also opted not to use the embellishments clusters in favor of having more of the background matting show and added the cute little journal tag and tiny banners that I cut from the paper branding strip

Old school scrapping

I had this single photo of myself and my daughter's team ( homeroom) teacher at the CG Bramble Scramble this fall.  Mr.Limbo tries to attend sports events that his team kids participate in, so he came to cheer on the girls' cross country team.  Anyway, I didn't really have a collection or kit to use with the photo just some leftover track embellishments, so I matched the base paper to Limbo's shirt color and the rest I pulled from the embellishments themselves.  I haven't scrapped like this in a while since I was a kit subscriber I still have tons of stuff to work through that all coordinates.  However, I did enjoy the thrill of pulling stuff together myself.  To make things flow even better I traced the word elements with black ink Definitely helped the “get set” to pop off the blue background panel.

Thanks for stopping by again. I have a few more layouts from this weekend to share with you so come back soon

LM “sketchy seasons”

I'm having so much fun with the latest
Lasting Memories "Sketchy Seasons" challenge. The current challenge is Fall with the sketch below.  I had a few photos from dropping my middle daughter at the airport this fall for a semester abroad and this sketch was perfect for it.

I hand-stitched the circle element and used airplanes instead of leaves.  I also went with one photo and a large side cluster of embellishments.  Before I saw this post I was pondering my paper choice as I had embellishments that I knew I wanted to use but wasn't sure about the background or base.  I've been so hung up on using kits that I have almost completely moved away from how I started my scrapping journey.  Glad to be pulling things together again and happy that you swung by to take a look.

UYS- layers

Welcome to the second half of April and a new challenge with Use Your Stuff-layers.  Show us your projects with layers.  I went a little crazy fussy cutting all the florals on the Simple Stories "Hey Crafty Girl".  Once I cut the flowers I realized that the remaining paper in my kit wasn't going to work as the foundation page and luckily I had a page that worked with me at this weekend's crop.  I double-matted the photos with a base of black to tie into the floral stems and leaves.  I rarely have photos of me at crops so I had to use this one to document this past fall's retreat.

A close-up of those wonderful layers

Stay tuned for some more layouts from this weekend and make sure to join us at Use Your Stuff

April 1st SIT

So apparently when I was pairing papers with pictures I forgot that I already scrapped the photo of my husband with his birthday present.  Most likely because I was scrapping out of chronological order for a DT assignment so now I have two layouts of his birthday, but this one also includes some of the other things from that day.

I was inspired by the April 1st sketch at S.I.T

I rotated the sketch to work with my photo orientation
and moved the location of the title as I didn't do any journaling on the page

Summer with LM

I’m finally able to play along with one of  my all time favorite challenge blogs.  Lasting Memories has a season and sketch challenge going this month and I’m jumping in with my layout of our new outdoor space that we created last summer.

I adapted the sketch by eliminating the circle and moved the title into the foreground of  my photo.
I did that so the sun element would be competing with the larger circle in the sketch and to cover up the not so pretty view of the garden weeds.

Thanks for stopping by to take a peek.
I'm getting ready for an upcoming crop this weekend so I'll have a bunch more to share soon.

Easter at UYS

Hello,  It's almost that time ... EASTER
Over at Use Your Stuff our theme this week is Easter-themed projects.  We can't wait to see your project.
I pushed outside of my comfort zone and made a few cards for the challenge.

I made two different takes on the same card cut.
I mixed different watercolor paper to back the cut-out portions of the cards and then added rhinestones to highlight different spots on the eggs.

Before I made the Easter cards I started with a card completely from scrap with a spring color palette

Now to get the cards in the mail before Easter comes and goes.
Make sure to share your projects with us at Use Your Stuff
