Laasting Memories #816 3 is a crowd

This month, Wendy is our hostess and will be challenging us to have fun with number play.
 For the current challenge, use the following:

3- photos

3 - triangles

3- word title

3 - embellishments

I did two different takes on the challenge.  

One with just the triangles and embellishments, which was meant to look like party hats.  Personally, I think they look more like fake Christmas trees than hats.

Second

Same photos and cupcake, but the triangles are smaller, and the orientation is askew.  (Feels more like a piñata, plus I added some paper stripes to fill the space and add color and texture.)

I was going to keep just the cupcake with words as my title, but ended up adding the "Hip, Hip, Hooray" stripe, which I then repeated in my journaling.  

All the pieces on the second layout are from my birthday scraps from a couple of different collections, but all seem to work together.

LM #814 - On the ONE's (number play)

 This month, Wendy is our hostess, and we will be having fun with number play.

 Use the following:

1- photo

1- circle 

1- word title

1 - embellishment 

For my layout, I used an 8 1/2 x 11 page in my son's Senior year album.

A single photo on this page works so well because I went larger and used a 5x7 photo.  The one giant circle behind the photo adds a pop of color that ties into the title and his letterman's jacket.  I mounted Eric's photo in a 6x8ish peek- a- boo pocket.  I cut down the 6x 12 and resealed the end, so that his graduation announcement could have its own space on the back side of his photo

 

For the embellishment, I used a single-style banner, but it is actually two pieces glued together to make a tab for the photo pocket.  If I had another black banner, you would never know it wasn't one element.

CM summer challenge with M&T

 I finished another summer scrapbooking challenge with Meggan and Tessa.  I wanted to share what I created, as I'm on a roll.  All of the challenges have a layout guide, but since it was a paid class, I won't share the actual layout here, just my interpretation

I used photo play "Oh beautiful day" collection to document our successful hatching of chicks this spring.  I used the CM CCS oval to represent the eggs in the incubator.

lasting Memories #813 Favorite Place

 This month's challenges at Lasting Memories are some of Jill's Favorite Things, and this week we are focusing on favorite places. We all have a place that makes us smile just thinking about it, and yes, being at home counts. Show off your favorite place in this challenge.

My happy place is on a trail with my adventure buddies.  This past June, my friend Tami and I camped in the Sand Dunes National Park on the Oregon coast.  On the last night of our stay, my husband joined us for a pre-Father's Day dinner (which I have previously posted), and he also joined us for our final hike of the trip. We did a four-mile out-and-back on the Siltcos Lake trail.

Summer Challenge

 I signed up for a summer challenge with Meggan and Tessa from Creative Memories.  I didn't get all of the layouts done within the class time, so I'm working away at what I have left.  I'm not going to share the original sketch, as it was a paid class, but I wanted you all to see what I've been up to.

The papers are  AC ( Amy Tangerine- Late Afternoon), not CM.  I did nine other layouts with the challenge; still have nine more to go.  Summer stuff just got in the way of what I thought I'd get done.

Random March moments

I haven't done a combination of random things in a long time, so I thought I'd smash together my time at REI grand opening and my new car.  I used the throwback sketch from the scraproom as inspiration

I only had four photos, so I filled in the open block with journaling.  Also added some circles to the bottom, as it felt blank with the journaling moved.

Lasting Memories #812

This month's challenges at Lasting Memories are some of Jill's Favorite Things, and this week we are focusing on embellishments.
 Use whatever embellishments you like in this challenge!

I'm not partial to any particular embellishment, as I let the paper and theme drive my decisions; however,  I do tend to lean towards enamel dots

I used the top row with black foam (sweet and heart), red enamel dots, and two photos.

I did get in a few more squares by using a black photo mat and fussy-cutting flower leaves.

lasting Memories #810 Favorite tool

 Favorite tool: Use your favorite die cutter, stencils, cutting device, pens/marker-whatever is your go-to tool.

I don't have a favorite go-to tool, but I have been using my border punches more.  I have managed to get two back-to-back layouts that used my CM punches.

Lasting Memories Mood board #808

DT  Lisa from Lasting Memories is hosting July's challenges.  

To get us in a scrappy mood, we are using inspiration from the following mood board.

July 19 - LM #808 - Team A - Be inspired by this mood board (colors, images, etc.)

I knew I had the perfect Gingham-print paper for my layout of our gourmet camp food.

The rest of the colors are similar, but not an exact match for the inspiration board, which is okay. 

To me, the inspiration is all about the food.

My husband joined my girlfriend and me on the last night of our camping trip at the Oregon National Sand Dunes.  He brought a fresh-baked sourdough loaf, ghee, and a Dutch oven dinner.  The following morning, he whipped up French toast ( with the remainder of the sourdough) on the oven lid over a fire.  We topped it with garden-fresh berries and a maple bourbon syrup.

I'm a little late getting this one out, as the new challenge went live on Sunday.  Good thing I'm on Team A and have a bit of time till the next challenge

For this layout, I used CM Boat Life and Summer Days paper.  The colors are very close to the inspiration board.  I did sprinkle in a bit of red because it's part of the collection, and I thought I might use more of it with the photo mats

I added extra photos on each side of the layout with peek-a-boo pockets.

Lasting Memories #806

I am one of those people who document the painful along with the not-so-painful moments in life.

I thought the mood board was perfect inspiration, as my thumb was definitely pulsing like exploding fireworks.  Also, the color scheme was perfect, too, as it complements my bandage. For the red, I dove into my stash for washi tape to create the background. I also used the dark blue to mat the photos, but pulled in a little craft to work with the bandage sticker/ embellishments

Yikes it's been awhile

 Yikes, it's been a while since I last posted anything.  Life has been busy.  
The last of my children has graduated from high school.

We started a busy week off with double ceremonies 

Eric participated in a program through Lane School District and St. Vincent DePaul, (Hope Factory), where he learned trade skills specifically for building tiny homes for low-income families.

For the second ceremony of the night, we headed to JCHS for a senior dessert, where Eric received his cords and certificates. (Goldenrod-honor society, White-GPA 3.5+, Gold+silver-CTE "career trade education)

Spirit of a Champion and the Presidential Academic Award.

Love this guy and so proud of him.  Already has a full-time job working on Cabinetry for Marathon Coach 

After all the craziness of graduation, I escaped to the coast with my girlfriend to camp

Gourmet lunch of fire-grilled and smoked baby bells, salami, and crackers

The adventures continue next week with a scout camp at Camp Baker.  After that, I plan to post regularly as I'm back on the design team with Lasting Memories, starting in July.

Lasting Memories Tic- Tac Toe Board #798

 This month's challenge at Lasting Memories is Tic-Tac-Toe Boards

I recently finished a scrap-your-stash challenge with Noreen Smith, which got me to pull out this Creative Memories Boat Life paper.  It's a collection I won at a scrap event and thought I'd never use.   The B sides of the designer paper were a perfect fit as the colors worked well with my layout.  

For the tic-tac-toe, I did the diagonal (3-word title, die-cut, and 3+photos)

 This layout is made of new materials, as it was the table gift at the retreat I attended last weekend.

As an added challenge, we were given a sketch by Meggan Jacks for the December 2025 Power Hour.

 I created this layout as I'm working my way through the Creative Memories virtual crops for 2026. Not sure I'll do all of them, but the February Layout #1 was perfect for my photos and the Heart theme for Lasting Memories  THIS: Use stars on your layout OR THAT: Use hearts on your layout.

I went with hearts.  I also used larger photos and pushed the hearts down

Lasting memories this or that #793

 April was This or That at Lasting Memories, and I'm just squeaking in under the deadline.  I created this layout last weekend at a scrap retreat, but have been so busy with Birthdays and Senior stuff that I'm just getting to posting now.  For challenge number 793  This: Use a sketch or That: Scraplift one of the design teams layouts.

I'm almost done with scout photos for 2024.  Just have December to do and then on to the next two years before my son has his Eagle receptions.  These last few weeks have been consumed with helping with his project.  Glad that it is almost complete.

I used really old CM paper that was 8x8, so I did some piecing together to make it work

 

CM crop 3 January

 I'm back with another CM virtual crop sketch from January.

I'm working my way through this year's online sketches.  In the past, I have not played along faithfully, as most of the layouts didn't suit my style. However, I've changed my attitude and outlook on sketches, using them as a starting point and inspiration.  Sometimes I stay true to the sketches, other times not so much.

For this sketch, I didn't use any slanted photo placement and actually replaced journal spots with photos.  I might go back and add journaling to the right-hand side, but for now, it's done.

 

CM Crop 2 and LM #786

February is almost over, and I'm still plugging my way through the January virtual crop photos.

Oh well, I'm happy to have another one done and in the album.

I added an additional photo, moved the journaling, and changed the cluster locations, but the foundational base is still discernible. That's what I love about using sketches.  I also like to incorporate other challenges as well.  This time, I chose to use word stickers for Lasting Memories #786
