Lasting memories one word resolution

This is Darcy's last challenge for the month of January and she has challenged us to a
"One Word Resolution"
All you have to do is think of one word that describes something you want to try to do this year.

I've finally figured out I'm not a resolution type of girl or even interested in the one little word movement that seems so prevalent in the scrapping community.  I've been thinking about it for a while now and am no closer to a layout then the day Darcy issued the challenge.

So I'm going to skip this one and jump ahead to next months challenges that I'm hosting, so see you back here next week.

Snowmen at lasting memories

This week Darcy has challenged us to use "Snowmen" on our layouts at lasting memories.
I'm kind of stretching the challenge this week as we don't normally get snow here in the Williamette valley.  We had some this winter though, but no snowmen.  The snow was so dry it won't form into decent balls and by the time it started melting and such the kids had had enough fun in the snow.
Longest extra week off from school ever.
Anyway I digress from my current layout.  This is another one from our trip to the cabin last spring break.  I used some spring-ish colors on the layout to convey that it was spring time and I don't have any snowmen on the layout, just my guy and the snow.  Get it Snow + man.

I did try building a snowman with circles, but opted to go with just the one.

This layout is also from my stash so 3 out of 50
Oh well, hope I inspired you to think outside the box a little.
Please join our snowy fun at lasting memories

DT scraplift

This weeks challenge at lasting memories  is actually a double Scraplift challenge. Each of us, over the last week, chose a fellow DT members LO to scraplift and now it's your turn. Which of our LO's would you like to scraplift?

I picked this cute layout by Kimberly Clark at Paper Munch page 4 for Zoe

which she based on the following sketch

Here's my take on Kim's Layout

I went with a very similar color scheme and also used circle pp
as well as did some machine sewing (and just like Kim's it's a little off)

I however stayed a little truer to the original sketch by using 3 pictures and a banner with picture instead of a title.  I also used the tags.

on some of the circles I put themed stickers from a girl scout sleepover pack.

Now WHO will you scraplift?
Go to Lasting Memories!  Take a peak.  Be inspired.

I'm also "Restarting" my 50 Layout challenge using my stash for 2014.
This entire layout is from stash so 2 out of 50.  Off to a good start

sketch challenge and favorite embellishment at lasting memories.

To kick off the New Year, we have a new challenge for you.
All you have to do is use this sketch and add your favorite embellishment.

I'm so super late with this challenge as it closes tomorrow, sorry but here you go

I have been trying to use more washi tape, but my go to embellishment is rhinestones

Christmas

I originally started this layout for the here comes Santa challenge at lasting memories, but just ran out of time.  We have been cruising ahead on the demolition phase of the upper floor at the farm house and every free moment is spent over there pulling nails out of the fir tongue  and grove planking to get to the bare studs. Happy to say that we are all most done with the pulling apart now to put it back together in a way that is more up to date and practical.  I'll share pictures soon.  In the mean time here's my finished layout.
I used a special pack of CM Christmas paper that I got a few years back.  I like the muted Christmas tones as they worked well with my older pictures.  This is of our 1st Christmas in Hawaii (1981).  Santa and Christmas trees seemed so out of place in the nice 70 degree weather.

I cut the tree from artbooking cartridge by aligning the image so it hung over the cutting edge. This allowed me to pop up the detail cuts to give the tree some added dimension as well as inked all the edges with chalk ink. Sprinkled in some rhinestones and tree is decorated.

me and my brother with Santa.

The lasting memories Dt is retrying the 50 layout from stash challenge this year.  I almost got done with the challenge before breaking don and buying some scrappy supplies.
I treated myself to random odds and ends that I want to try like: clothes pins, stick pin, shaped wire clips, perfect pearls along with a random assortment of embellishments.  I also picked up two pads of paper that will be used for my friends baby album.

However this layout is entirely from stash so 1 of 50 here I come
