scrap table take over

So much for getting any scraping done.
My husband and son have taken over the craft table to build this years pinewood derby car.

I'll have to crave out some space to get my DT projects done

Freaky fast formula x2

I'm back with not one but two layouts using the freaky fast formula for December
I used my September TSR kit Echo Park "Fall is the air"

I also added a button and sequence to the papers/ Ephemera from the kit.
This first page is of the Service unit investiture and rededication and the one below is of the crafts the girls did at the event

Thanks for stopping by to check out my creations.  This is probably it till after Christmas

Carving party with Sketch -n- scrap

For some reason I thought  that if I just taught my water ex classes that I'd have more free time with the kids during break and maybe get some scrapping done too.  Well, not so much with driving the oldest to swim practice twice a day and working an hour or two in between.  I did manage to crank out his page thanks to the help of a great sketch over at Sketch -n- Scrap

I changed it up a little by going with 4 photos as I wanted to get in all of the girls from the troop that attended the service unit carving party.  With the extra photo I went a little large with the background papers too.
Hopefully I'll sneak in another layout before Christmas

2016 anything goes at lasting memories

Welcome to the last challenge of the year at lasting memories.
We've been doing a best of 2016  highlighting our favorite and most popular challenges.  There's still plenty of time to play along with us so let me recap what's happened so far this month.
Glitter and Glam, use only one photo,  use only four photos and our current challenge which is anything goes with photos from 2016

I chose photos from July
My husband and I were invited to attend a fundraiser dinner for the Viking Sal Senior center.
We had a wonderful sampling of New Orleans style foods and wine at Walnut Ridge Vineyard

I based my layout on this amazing sketch from Kristine Davidson- Creative Scrapper Sketch Vol.4

and here's my layout

I used the table place card as my journaling block.
It has all the yummy foods we sampled listed on it.
Let me make your mouth water as the names don't do the food justice

The shrimp cocktail was a jumbo Shrimp with pickled okra and watermelon chunks severed with a fried cheese straw accompanied by a complimentary glass of wine
Main course was Creole Chicken Fricassee atop homemade grits cake with fresh grilled veggies
dessert was the best though as we had New Orleans bread pudding with Praline rum sauce.
So good

Don't those photos look yummy

Picture of us and the photo below is a Walnut, thus the name of the vineyard

I had a lot of fun putting this together with my July TSR "Fancy Pants-Good Fellows"
It's a very masculine line but the colors were perfect for the layout.  I used the enamel dots and wood veneer "this great day" from the kit.  The twine is from my stash.
I still have a few bits of paper and a bunch of embellishments left, so I might be making a father's day card with left overs.

Thanks for stopping by and make sure to join us at lasting memories

Use your stuff- Let it Snow

This weeks challenge at Use your stuff is hosted by Janis from Pause Dream Enjoy
The theme is "Let It Snow."  Make any type of project you'd like with some snow on it,
and come link up with us

We don't get much in the way of snow here in the Willamette Valley, we do however get freezing rain.  Just this week too.  Think I much rather have pretty snow if it's going to be slick out.  Anyway for my contribution this week I created a layout of the Chess game my mother and daughter played during Christmas break back in 2014.

I added a bunch of stenciled and doodled snowflakes to the base page
The stencil I used was looked more like an asterisk and dots so I added the extra arms to the flakes and the smaller dots weaving in and out around the larger ones with a white gel pen.

From there I loosely followed Sketches in Thyme sketch #235
I didn't want to cover up all my snowflakes with a large paper layer behind my photos so I just double matted the main photo and I used a chipboard frame instead of a tag, but I think you can tell I followed the sketch.  I love using sketches when I'm short on time as I don't have to work as hard on the general placement of everything and can just focus on getting the rest of the layout together

I also rotated the photo orientation to work with my photo and drop the framed photo down a bit to hide a smudged snowflake

The title is older thicker letters that were actually glittery pink, so I toned them down with a chalk pen and now they look snowy too.  Got a bit creative and cut the bottom off of a b to make my h, but it works and now there are four less letters in my stash

To add just a little more snow I used the coordinating snow flake that cam with my TSR kit for December (MME- Sugar Plum) perfect timing as the papers arrived this afternoon and I was struggling to find Christmas papers in my stash.  Love my kits

Thanks for stopping by to take a look and don't forget to show us your snow at Use your stuff

TSR December throwback

One more birthday layout tonight.  That's what happens when you have almost back to back birthdays. One on September 2nd the other on the 6th.

I used the December throwback challenge from The Scrap Room facebook page to create this layout of my daughter's birthday tea party

Dec 2014 sketch.
I changed out the tree for the birthday tag and used slightly larger photos

the Party time is actually part of the paper label, but works great as a banner

I had just enough scraps left to make this little card for my friends birthday

Thanks again for stopping by

December This or that challenge

I'm playing along with Rochelle's this or that challenge this month.
and I've used the Brenda's bonus sketch

I opted to not do circles as cutting the pictures would have cropped out the family gathered to celebrate my oldest birthday

I used a combination of  creative memories happy birthday embellishments to mimic the cluster in the sketch.  Then added the big blue rhinestone to the mix.  I have a few smaller ones on the blue pennants near the photos too.

Thanks for stopping by

Stick it down December double

I was so inspired by this months 2page sketch at Stick it down  that I couldn't wait to get started. I decided I'd scrap some more of my troop photos as I just happened to be at my Cadettes archery day in my stack of photos.  I managed to get 7 photos within the large target I created for the layout.
And here's my take on the sketch

The target is not centered in the middle as I wanted to cut on the break between photos.
This also left more room for my larger title.

Below is a close up of the journaled required steps to earn their badge.
