The current Era at lasting memories

We are up to the current era this week in our musical montage month.

So far we have got down and boogied  thru the 70's, rocked in the 80's and taken a trip down Broadway.  For the current challenge you can create a layout using inspiration from current music topping the charts or go with the bright and bold hair colors artist are sporting or maybe some hand drawn doodles that give the tattooed vibe.  It's up to you.  My take on the challenge and ispiration for the layout is Katy Perry's- Roar

I'm into my second set of 4 kits that I got this month from the scrap room.  Totally digging the colors from Bo Bunny Believe.  The pinks and oranges are prefect for this layout.  I also went with the very popular and trendy triangle.  I modified this sketch from Creative scrapper

My title of course is "roar"  and I printed the chorus lyrics.

I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter
Dancing through the fire
‘Cause I am a champion
And you’re gonna hear me roar

The Junction City Tiger Cheer Clinic went pink this year in support of our middle school language arts teacher going through breast cancer treatment.  My Journaling reflects that along with pulling in key words from the lyrics such as fighter and champion

Hope you like my inspiration and will join us at Lasting Memories for our last musical challenge of the month

TSR doodlebug April kit

So I finely broke down and subscribed to a kit club.  I've been eyeing The Scrap Room flavor of the month club minus the coffee of course.  Not much of a coffee drinker but love the paper pairing for the kit so here I go with a new creation using Doodlebug Anchors away.

I created this layout using the recipe cards for the month of April.  The layout sketch design was meant for a different paper pairing but I like how it turned out

The sketch called for 4 4x4 photos but I really wanted the full length of the survival suit.
That would be my goofy daughter all dressed up and ready for a dip in the pacific ocean

I tried to use as many of the themed stickers as possible as I don't have much paper left and not sure when I'll need more of the nautical theme. Sadly I still have a 1/4 page of stickers left

I also wanted to make sure I used the buttons from the kit as well so I grouped them with some stickers.  The wood grain dock is actually the bottom of the seagull sticker.  I cut him of the pier post so that he'd fit better on the journal card

and here he is grouped with some more stickers and the journal card

Broadway challenge at lasting memories

The Musical Montage continues this month at Lasting Memories with a Broadway challenge.
You are free to create anything  to do with Broadway or this photo for inspiration

Haven fun creating.  I hope to join you on this one but need to print my daughters New York pictures.  Her Girl Scout troop spent a week in New York last summer and they went to see Aladdin.  Hoping I can find something that will work as I didn't go on the trip and still haven't opened the photo file that was shared.

Rocking the 80's at lasting memories

April's challenges theme is "Musical Montage" with all layouts  based on a different era for each week. We think you'll love the challenges this month if you missed the Disco Era you can find it here.

Currently on the play list is the greatest hits from the 80's.

How you interpret the challenge is up to you.  Feel free to rock out in the 80's with me. When I googled images of 80's music I found a ton of the MTV flag being planted by Neil Armstrong, so that and the neon colors were my 80's influence for this layout.

I also used the freaky fast Friday formula from the Scrap room to speed along the layout process.  I've been busy cranking out decorations for my son's Blue and gold banquet and wasn't sure if I'd get my layout done in time for the big reveal this week.  Thankfully I had a few spare minutes in between scout functions today.  Started the day dropping off my youngest daughter to her Junior leader for a trip to the Oregon coast to earn her animal habitats badge, then off to Girl Scouts Annual meeting where I served as a delegate and received a national adult award.

After cutting the neon papers and arranging them to my liking I realized that they looked really flat, so out came the washi tape.  I covered all of the pieces with color coordinating tape.  Love the funky pattern that I created on the large 7x7 green square.

here's a close up of my son posing in the cardboard cut out that inspired the whole 80's vibe for the layout.  Can't you just see him skipping across the moons surface and planting that MTV flag smack dab into moon rock. I tried to give the base page a lunar look with a bit of white paint flicked from tooth brush bristles.

I did substitute the 4 circles with 5 starburst as it fit the overall theme better then a bunch of circles.
Finished the layout off with a bit of journaling about the pack's trip to the science factory

Thanks for stopping by for a look and I hope you join us for this week's challenge

Blue and Gold creations

This is how I've been spending all of my crafty time

Den table markers.  In an effort to have all the Den's sit together I made these.

The overall theme for the banquet was camping and wilderness so I stuffed canning jars with crepe paper glass stones and tissue paper to mimic a campfire

I made wolf place makers too, but just don't have a photo of them.
14 badges double sided

signage for the auctions and no we didn't bid on the kids it was items for kids to bid on.  I cranked these out late at night so I wasn't really think about how they read at the time, until the jokes started pouring in after the 11:30 progress photo posted on Facebook.

Last but not least is this beauty of a sign.
I wanted to make it look like a sign post in camp but just ran out of time.
Maybe if I didn't have so much scouting going on at once.
3 scout events in one day

April's Challenges at Lasting Memories

Aprils challenges theme is "Musical Montage" with all layouts  based on a different era for each week. We think you'll love the challenges this month and the first one is the ...Disco Era. Next up on the play list will be the greatest hits from the 80's, Broadway musicals and finishing out the set will be the current era.  How you interpret the challenge is up to you.  Feel free to get your grove on this week by using a song title, 70's color scheme or flashy disco balls. What ever moves you, man.

I'll be joining the challenges next week with my take on the 80's
