Eagle Scout project

I spent about 6hrs Sunday cranking out pages for my husband album,
so he'd have some show and tell items to go along with the Eagle scout video presentation he did last night.

Here's one inspired by Sketchabilities #84

I left out the 4th photo as I really wanted to add the 3D sticker of the Eagle patch
also kept it simple and left out all of the flowers and fluff to keep it more masculine

My husband when he was 18 as well as a close up of the 3D sticker patch.
Really like the K and Company Boyscout line

here's another scout page I made using a sketch I found
at memorable season sketch a ton provided by Liz Chidester

I added a few extra photos, but the base is very similar to the sketch
So the problem with doing a scrap page of an event that I didn't attend is getting the journaling part correct.  I thought I was doing a good job with the notes my mother in law had next to the photos in her album and then I turned the page to find a photo of a wooden sign with the camp name on it.  Yes I spelled it wrong and then my wonderful husband pointed out that my MIL also wasn't there so it wasn't a tapping in ceremony as so much a tapping out.  Thus the added piece of card stock to cover up the mistake.

Okay just a few more pages to go

two page with two different camp outs.
Waldo Lake hike to Kiwa Lake
and Father /son camp out at Camp Baker

 Random court of honor ceremonies

Ben  receiving  his eagle rank
love this 3D sticker.  Almost looks real

Thanks for spending the time to get through my long post.

LCOM #3

Made this layout to follow Sketch #3 at Let's Capture Our Memories

Working on my husbands scout photos and the sketch worked well for the pictures that I have.
Only changed the size of the middle photo
and
shifted down the banner and journal stripes to create space for to the badges

On the borderline at Lasting Memories

We want to see borders on those layouts at Lasting memories. Any kind of border will do.  I've been breaking in my new hexagon border punch.  Totally in love, not just because its a trendy shape but because it seems to be a more masculine border punch compared to the others I own.

Which is great for working on my husbands scout picture for his big
Eagle Scout presentation for pack 52 on Tuesday

Not the best pics of the layout.
Super over cast and damp outside so I did them indoors

Left side of the layout.
I used  K and Company Boy scouts paper and die cuts.

Right side of layout

Used the off cut from the punch under the troop number.
I have lots of cute little hexes to use now

Hope you'll take the border challenge and join us at lasting memories

This week we're being sponsored by A2Z.
They have some awesome new products in store
and one lucky person
will receive a $10.00 gift certificate.

Slow going

I was doing great cranking out the layout earlier this month and now I'm almost at a stand still.  Kids are home sick again, girl scouts is crazy and I've barely been crafting.
Going to try and fix that tomorrow.
 We'll see

Sketch with a twist

Seems like there are a lot of challenges that are now a sketch with a twist,
I enjoy playing along at sketch with a twist when I can and have decided to take the chevron challenge.

I started off by cutting a mask for my misting, but wasn't to happy with the out come.
However the mask itself looked great so I used it instead for the layer over my base paper.

I followed the sketch pretty close with keeping the photos circles.
The little tags are scraps of Halloween text paper that I cut and mounted.
the purple tail is elastic cord left over from a Girl scout project,
but really helps add a bit of sparkle to the page

Christmas 2012 at lasting memories

I know I'm a little behind with my layout and post.
With the sick kids at the beginning of the week (just when I was getting in a groove too)
and birthday parties and girl scout cookie craziness at the end.

We'll here it is my LO of Christmas morning using Sketches in Thyme #100

Pulled out a couple more pages and scraps from the cheesy Christmas album I've been deconstructing.  The individual parts and pieces are okay, just not how it's put together.  Can't complain because it was free.  Yup more stuff from my wonderful Aunt Diane.  Between the stuff she gave me and the things coming from my MIL house I won't have to buy paper for a long time.  At least that's the plan.

cards

Switched gears from scrapping to card making.

first up is the Monty the Moose.
Monty's travels brought him to us late this holiday season.  He was supposed to arrive in our family gift basket in time for Christmas, but didn't get to our door till almost New Years.   He still can't tell us where he was for so long, but I'm guessing he escaped to some tropical location before deciding it was to hot to stay.
That's why he shrunk from the larger size that he was with arms wrapped around the moose cookies to just this cute head.  So now that he is smaller he will be making another trip this time as a thank you card for said gift basket.

next up is the last of the new purchases for a while.

I swore off buying any new craft goodies, especially paper for the year.
Week 3 and going strong.  We'll see how the resolve holds as the DT group over at lasting memories is all drooling over the latest releases from CHA.
Got to stay strong and not be tempted buy the link, but most of all the chatter.

Anyway this Birthday card is for my friend/ ex- neighbor.
We're going out to celebrate our birthdays.  Mine was the 15th and hers is the 23rd
Noodle and Co for dinner and then out for drinks.  Can't wait

The card is made with CM happy Birthday stack pack.
The base is from my stash as well as flower, button, thread  the olive chalk ink.

1st batch

If you're looking for a sketch that has shaped photos and funky angles
then you have to check out creative scrapper #242

I'm blowing through the stash.  Pulled out the cute cherry paper that my
wonderful Aunt Diane gave me over a year ago.
Also  broke out some floss for some hand stitching.
Wishing I had one of those rotary stitch precising things, so the stitches would be more even.
oh well
I changed the sketch a little by adding a row of flowers at the bottom.

Family

I'm playing along with paper secrets sketch with a twist.  The twist is to use twine.

Week two and still going strong on not buying anything new.  The paper feels new though as I have had this CM dream paper in my stash unopened till today.  I think I'll be able to keep my pledge till at least National Scrapbook Day.  My consultant for creative memories always has something tempting at her crop.
Trying  to stay strong

Close up of my raw twine.  I got this little bit wrapped around a package at my son's baby shower.  He'll be 5 at the end of April so it's about time I used it.  I  lifted the idea of using twine along my border from
 Paper secret DT Kery.

last little thing
moved the title location so that I could go big

Thanks for looking, Haven

Twisted tuesday and creative scrapper #239

Happy birthday to me and another layout just for fun.
This time I'm playing along with Twisted Tuesday "off the beaten path" challenge.   Somewhere on your creation you need to "off stamp". Which is to stamp an image off to the side of your card stock and only seeing part of it on your creation.  The twist is the "Beaten" part of the challenge....crumple up something,  not just distressed edges, but  really crumpled and/or even torn.
I rotated the sketch to work with my photos of my oldest daughter Ashley

On the right side is the off stamp from my latest stamp purchase.I picked up CTMH "life's great" stamp from a fellow DT sister looking to unload some stamps from her stash.  Love how it turned out. The tickets are also from the same stamp collection.  Bought it before Christmas so I'm still doing good on the not buying anything new.  However the hexagon border punch I got today.  It's the last purchase I made before the pledge not to buy more stuff.  Also got some paper and dimensional stickers in the package that I'll have to share with you soon
If you look closely at the yellow paper you can see that it's been crumpled and rubbed with ink.
Most of the crumpled effect is hidden under the photos though.

Something old, something new

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.  Oh wait this isn't a wedding...The current challenge at lasting memories is something old , something new.  It could be an old picture, paper, embellishment, old habits, whatever and the something new could be a new technique, the latest scrap gift from the holidays, you get the idea.  Really open to interpretation.  So clue us into to your old and new

For me I really couldn't escape using blue on this layout of my Dad.  So yes the picture is old probably early 1950's, but I also used older card stock that I freshened up with a little misting.   I tried doing a mask technique and didn't like the results so I hid it under the wood grain paper.  The other older items are the blue ribbon and the vinyl stickers that I inherited.  Everything else is new.  Most of the patterned paper is from my all about boys stack that I ordered on cyber Monday.  The hearts are extras from a girl scout project.
I was inspired by sketch #1 at LCOM

Hope you'll join us this week at lasting memories

Raggedy Ann and Andy at Child's play

Time for our 2nd  January challenge .
Today we're with the classic toys, Raggedy Ann and Andy

There’s no place like home!

I personally never owned either of these dolls, but did have a Holly Hobby Doll.
So for this challenge I played up the colors, patterns and mimicked the nose shape

added some hand drawn stitches on the pennants

the monkey and classroom number are from the classroom door photo

Hope you'll play along with us at Child's Play

Link up your take on this challenge in our January Challenges

He's all Boy

I'm playing along with a couple of different challenges
with my layout of my son Eric

I'm following sketch #98 at Sketches in Thyme
I'm also getting fit with ScrapFit Work out #83 (wish upon a star)
and  Warm up #35 (negative punches)
A not so great side view of my dimensional negative punch.
I used the punched stars  and their negatives through out the layout.
The title is sanded elf thickers

Inspired by a book

This week the challenge is by the book.
Use a quote, authors or story lines from your favorite book

For this weeks challenge I had some heavy lifting to do before I could get started because my favorite little book has lived on the corner of my craft desk and some how it got knocked behind.

My girlfriend in high school gave me this great little book back in 1991
and I used the title as the journaling on my layout.

this layout is based the scrappiest sketch #154
This photo is of the neighbor girl and my two daughters on the way to school.
They have a love / hate relationship most of the time.
Kind of like me and the paper I have.  I've decided that I'm not going to buy anything new for crafting this year.  Except for neutral base card stock and adhesive as needed.  I really have a ton of paper, sticker and stuff that I really need to make a dent in.  I made a pledge to a fellow scrap friend that I would go on this journey with her so we can keep each other accountable

How ever I'm not off to a good start as I ordered some paper online from Creative Memories (exclusive club member item for the month of January) but that was before I made the pledge.  So to get on track  I pulled out these super old instant replay papers and stickers from CM.

Hope you've been inspired to join us this week
We are also  looking for a January guest designer.  If you'd like a chance just add GDT after your name when you link it up.
