Mixed media

End of January already! I'm not much of a goal-setter so I don't have any grand schemes in play right now, but I did start a new scrapbook tracker just to see how much I get done.  So far the only scrapping I've done has been for the Use Your Stuff Design Team.  The current challenge is to use mixed media.

I'm trying out a new-to-me product.
I saw a similar glaze used on another blog and liked the look.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look as good as it does in real life when I photographed the layout. The glaze is on the greens to give a little more sparkle and carry the gold coloration across the page.

I also used some black Nuvo drops and a wooden heart to round out my collection of mixed media.  I also used the following Allison Davis Sketch

I hope you'll pop on over to Use Your Stuff to play along

Inspired by a book

The current challenge at Use Your Stuff is inspired by a book.
I love exploring the Pacific Northwest and picked up this book by a local author and hiker that I follow.

I'm sharing one of my hiking adventures on the Wildwood Trail in the Portland area.
It's not one from the book but I did hike with one of my adventure buddies and of course, we had to also do lunch followed by a brisk walk to get Salt and Straw Ice Cream.

The left-hand side of the layout is from the trail.  I used  CM "leave nothing behind"

the right-hand side is from our lunch

And here are a few close ups

I cut the center out of the journal card to use on the other side of the layout and tucked the top and bottom pieces behind the main focal photo.

The skull is a fussy-cut photo from the menu cover of the restaurant "The Matador"

Stitching at UYS

Use Your Stuff current challenge is Stitching (faux or real)
I went with tone-on-tone real stitching for my layout.  The paper was already in a burst pattern which I cut apart, stitched then curled the leading edge.  I also cut an 11-inch world globe but only used half of it for the layout.  The other half is currently in my stash waiting for the start of my daughter's European travels.

Here's a close-up of the stitching and journaling

Thanks for stopping by and make sure to share your stitching projects with us at Use Your Stuff
