I've been working since 8 am this morning trying to finish up the last of this years Girl scout picture. We have a big back to school BBQ tomorrow and I'll be manning the recruitment table and thought it would be nice to have a current show and tell of troop activities. The pages aren't super pretty or elaborate, but they are done

It's all about Ribbon at Use it Tuesday
If you're not familiar with Use it Tuesday, their mission is to get crafty people using what they already have. So show us your layouts, cards, and altered art for this fun challenge
at Use it Tuesday.
Here's what I did with ribbon from my stash
My best friends daughter just turned one and I made this layout as a present for Eloise.
I wish I could say the paper is from my stash, but it's not.
Picked up this cute Bo Bunny Birthday paper at an old scrap shop in a new location.
If you are ever in Eugene be sure to stop by Paiges in time
Left side of layout.
I used ribbon under my border punch to help it pop out from the background and I also used the same ribbon on the photo mat.
Cut the one using plantain Schoolbook at 4.25 inches.
Distressed the edges with my scissors and hand drew the black outline
I tacked the ribbon down on the back side of the mat so that my good friend Sandra can just slide in the pictures of her daughters birthday party
Right side
I created a matching title plate with stickers from my stash and some hand drew asterisks to match
I hope I've inspired you to use some of your stash and would love to see what you come up with.
Please link your creation using Inlinkz by Friday Sept 7th. No blog? No problem! Just use keyword USE038 when uploading to an online gallery and leave us a direct link so we can find your creation.

End of Summer
Can you believe summer is almost over.
The team here at lasting memories would love to see how you wind down before the kids head back to school and the cooler weather moves in. Do you take a family vacation, spend time poolside or at the lake?
For me summer is officially over when I don't have to have girl scout meetings in the backyard. We had our last meeting and summer hike on Thursday and will be heading back to the school gym in September.
Here's a peak at our July meeting with Lane Rural Fire and Rescue
The girls learned a lot about fire safety and had a blast climbing in and out of the engine
and of course we took a lot of photos to document the event
Left side of layout
Instead of a title I just have the LRFR badge and lots of journaling
This is a decal from the plastic firefighter hats that the girls all recieved.
Who knew that the older girls would go crazy for them.
Right side
I'm glad I left a space to add more journaling instead of one more photo because
you wouldn't know it was the middle of the summer with all of us bundled up against the lovely late afternoon mist. It definately made it bareable around the fire pit. Can't image teaching girls to light fires in 90 plus weather that we had a few days earlier
close up of my latest CM border punch.
I backed it with white paper that I fussy cut to give it another layer
Now it's your turn to share your end of summer fun with us at lasting memories for a chance to win our monthly prize and if you'd like to join us as a guest designer don't forget to add GDT after yor name.

Cooling off on a hot summer day
Lasting memories would like to know how you cool off on a hot summer day. Hanging in the pool downing some ice cream, lying low in the shade or like my family head for the hills.
Here's how we kept cool the last time the mercury climbed in the Williamette Valley
Doesn't it look like our canoe is hoovering over the water. My husband thought it would be cool to have a pic of the shadow of our canoe on the bottom of the lake. Little did we know how good the photo would be. Yes, the water is that clear that you can see almost a 100ft down on a sunny day. And talk about cold.
I used the June sketch from my scraps and more for my inspiration and used the color scheme and elements from case #31 over at CSI

Spirograph at child's play
I need to apologize to all my followers and fellow DT members at Child's play challenge. I have really fallen down on keeping up. Literally. I was unexpectedly called to service at the Northwest centennial Girl scout roundup last week and managed to fall and severally bruise my leg. I haven't been able to move much and have spent the last few days flat on my back with my leg elevated and ice on it.
I'm so sorry.
Now on to the current challenge
It's time for August challenge #3! Today we're playing with a classic art toy- the Spirograph
here's what I did:
I used this Creative memories template as a poor mans spirograph
All I did was give it a little twist after every pass to get the criss crossing lines like the spirograph
The smaller circles are juct freehand doodles
Keeping it simple so I can get off my feet and back to elevating. Hope to be back to normal soon
Please join us for this fun challenge
and there is still time to enter the ,beach ball and "oh the places you'll go" challenge

It's all about School at Use it Tuesday
It's all about School at Use it Tuesday
If you're not familiar with Use it Tuesday, their mission is to get crafty people using what they already have. So show us your back to school layouts, cards, bookmarks and teacher gifts and join the challenge
at Use it Tuesday.
School starts after labor day here, so this layout is from the start of school back in 2010.
Hugh day in our house as all four kids were in some sort of school program.
The background paper is CTMH school day paper pack from back when my oldest daughter was in preschool, she starts 7th grade this year so it's about time I use more of the paper. The books, scirrors and star stickers are from a school kit I got at a garage sale 4 years ago and the title strips are from a kit I got at big lots last fall. The only newish thing is the CM border punch that I did on hoarded cardstock
So on Sept 7th 2010 I had a 5th grader and 3rd grader at Irving elementary
and a pre K and playschooler at River Road Park
This year we span from pre-k to second year of middle school
I hope I've inspired you to use some of your stash and would love to see what you come up with.

A special celebration at lasting memories
It's all about "A Special Celebration" this week.
Any celebration will do.
Here at lasting Memories we have a little extra celebrating to do for Karen's birthday today.
I did this layout when I was on retreat and thought I'd show you what I did for my friends 40th birthday.
Barb's favorite color is purple so I did everything in purple
Here's a close up of the upper left photo on the layout
the photo banner has forty photos of Barb
from 1996 to 2010.
Each of the panels are 12X12 that are tied together with purple and gold ribbon.
Added some suction cup hooks to the top and turned it into a window hanging/ party decoration.
GIVEAWAY REMINDER:
Don't forget about our giveaway this month. We would also like to start having a monthly Guest DT here at Lasting Memories. Bingo at lasting memories
This week we're playing
Real simple just use 5 elements in a row to create your Bingo layout
Here's what I did:
I used case #30 over at CSI for my inspiration
Along with Creative scrapper Sketch #218
For CSI you have to use the color palette
plus two elements from the evidence and one from testimony
I used four pieces of evidence ( Bricks, Distressing,Metal/Hinge, Ribbon)
I did walnut ink distressing around the paper tab under the hinge
and also roughed the edges of the photo mats with my scissors
for the testimony I used a die cut frame to surround my journaling
The ribbon and buttons are from the same die cut kit, but I altered the ribbon to fit the layout.
The bow had the ribbon hanging down so I cut them off repositioned and added foam square to give it the dimension of a real ribbon.
And there you have it my Bingo going diagonal Ribbon to letters.
For the free space I used the metal element and the card stock is the striped paper just under the photos
Hope you'll join us at Lasting memories this week
