Scouting for food

Finally got it done and glad to be moving onto the next project. 

Not super thrilled with the final results.  Thinking I should have left of the paint spots but I was going for my P item on the Stamp challenge at Scrap our stash

 

 

Word of choice this month is: "STAMPS", I used the following:

 

S - Stencil for letters and Arrows

T- Tags

A- Arrows 

M- metal brads

P- paint

could have stopped at P for pen

 

oh well live and learn

 

 

 



2 Tweet cards

Not the post I thought I was going to do next, but still a scout one none the less.

 

I've been busy delivering our troops boxes of Gift of caring cookies.  1st case has been deposited with a peer trainer for foster kids.  They put out cookies and treats during supervised visits between kids and biological parents.  Next boxes is ready to go down to the blood bank for distribution to mobile blood draw sites.  Nothing like a quick girl scout cookie pick me up after donating a pint.  I just finished packing two flat rate boxes with another case of cookies for our US troops in Okinawa, Japan, thus the cards in the post.  Now that it's in the mail.  I thought I'd share.

I used the same basic design on both of them and Love how cute they turned out.

I picked up the felt supplies  at Target for making valentines. 

 Just opened the package yesterday though

 

Okay so ne4xt post coming soon will really be of the cub food drive.

Punkin Chunkin

Working my way through the beginning of my sons Scout year and found this great sketch to use over at Scrap Book Challenge #443

 

I flipped the sketch

 as my subjects where facing the other direction and I wanted them looking towards the title instead of off the page. 

I also floated the photo of my son up a bit more then in the sketch to fill in the blank space.

It also follows the eye line of in the larger 6x6 photo

I created the larger photo by splicing together two photos.

Repeat kind of

   For the 2013 Blue and Gold silent auction I created a premade scout page along with a description of my services for a four hour scrap session for the highest bidder. I kept the premade page and support materials as the winning bid wanted to do a baby book.

 

    I'm kicking myself right now as I didn't take a before shot of the page, thinking I still had the post of the original project.  Silly me. Can't find it after much hunting, but if this looks familiar you'll know why.

Totally wish I could have found the old post and give credit to the sketch artist I followed as well.

Originally it was designed for 2 stacked 4x4 photos on a long mat.  I choose to use a 4x6 photo and shorten the mat while adding 2 smaller photos below the main focal photo.

I added the Blue background and mat to the existing pieces to create this quick and easy page of my son receiving his Bobcat award

Soccer Golf with Stuck

Yeah I'm scrapping again after a 6 week break due to Girl Scout cookie season.

Our troop did awesome with almost 7000 boxes sold, but now it's time to switch gears and get my Boy Scout creative mojo going.

 

I found a great sketch over at Stuck

 

 

I rotated the sketch to work with my photo orientation

 

 

I also left out all the extra circles to keep the focus on the Soccer ball/ large circle element to carry the theme of the layout.  I did however keep the triangle and stitching.

 

 

Tried some paint splatter, but it doesn't show well on the dark background paper.

 

All the paper/ alpha is K and Company BSA traditional paper

 

Crazy busy

Yes, Girl scout cookie sales has taken over my life again, but that's what happens when you manage a group of 33 girls.  The only crafting I've got in has been this Thank you card for my son's Tiger Den.
The boys went to the local TV station for a tour and got to be on camera at the end of the show.

I love the Washi tape over the brown ribbon and I love that I'm stash busting again.  The paper is a scrap piece from another scout page and the paw print sticker and square are recycled from a blank camping album I took apart.  Thank You is in all capital letters as that what was left of the yellow alpha stickers.

Unscrappy but creative endeavers

Can't wait for Friday to get back to scrapping.

 A display for GS world thinking day

 

Vintage 1942 Intermediate uniform and a 1960's brownie uniform

and of course the framed layout I did of my mother in law from the 1950's

I also made a poster with WAGGGS pin info and a cute green piggy bank for the world friendship fund although my daughter thinks it's creepy.

1950's Girl scout

I'm in full swing for the final prep for World Thinking Day. 

 I'm co hosting a scout event for 230 attendees and making a display of vintage uniforms and memorabilia including this layout of my Mother in law. 

 

I was inspired by Stick it down February single page sketch

 

and by Let's capture our memories  February color challenge

 

 

Here's my combined effort

 

close up of rub on journaling.  I didn't have much to say about my MIL scouting history as we never talked about it so I thought this captured the spirit of scouting perfectly

 

fussy cut the flowers to add the embellished swirly flower similar to the sketch. 

 I didn't wrap it around the bottom as I used a larger photo

 

 

Zombies with a sketch

 

I found this sketch over at Sketch Savvy created by Susan Stingerfellow.

The sketch is used in a larger kit community Sketchy Thursday at Scraptastic Club blog.

I'm not a member and probably won't be for a while as I am stash busting, but couldn't help but use the sketch for inspiration for my zombie creation.

 

 

 Here's the sketch

 

Stayed pretty true to the sketch other then swapping snowflakes for tombstones.

I used the outline of the tombstone die cut sticker above to create a paper version for under the title. I just peeled the sticky surrounding of the backing and adhered to my purple paper and cut close to the edge of the die cut sticker edge.

 

 

Cut the word Zombies from the same paper I matted the photos on and inked.

two page layout from Stick it Down Janurary

Finally cleared off the Pine wood Derby mess on my craft table and got a layout done. 

Starting to get back into the crafty groove.  Yeah! 

 Doesn't hurt to have a little sketch help too. 

 I used this two page layout from Stick it Down as my inspiration

 

 

Here's my take

I stayed pretty true to the sketch only switching the direction of the flags/ banners on the lower right hand side of the layout and I used two photos aligned and matted as a single photo to fill the vertical photo in the sketch.

broke out the paper stash.  The base orange and green are old Close to my heart paper from early 2000.  Mixed in some random Halloween Paper and Cm Hocus Pocus paper and die stickers.

Also busted out the leaves and rhinestones.

The numeral stickers are thickers "bewitched"  totally appropriate for a pumpkin carving page.

 

Love the sparkle and texture the silk leaves add to the page and I'm using up the stack I have.

Hijacked

My crafting space was finally coming together and my husband hijacked it for pine wood derby car making

January single page sketch from Stick it Down

 

Did you know that Stick it Down has a new format?  You now have the full month to play along! I used their single layout as interpretations for the layout that I created on retreat.

 

 

 

Here's my take

 

 

 I flipped the large embellishment to the right side of the layout

and journaled in the border space. The gray cardstock I cut as a frame and inked the inner and outer edges with brown chalk ink to bring some more brown into the layout so that the football didn't pop out as much.  Did a few hand doodled stiches on the ball to tone down the white stripe.

 

Funny thing about this layout is that my husband thought it would be cool to go to the Oregon vs. Colorado game with my brother and sister in law as I'm a Colorado grad and he's an Oregon grad.  I hadn't been to a game since 1995, the same year that Colorado and Oregon played in the Cotton Bowl.   If you look closely you'll notice that the Quarter back is Oregon's Heisman trophy winner Marcus Mariota from 2 years ago. 

Too bad Oregon lost the National championship title game the day after I made this.

Page 9

Just about finished off a pack of CM Birthday stickers.

I've been trying really hard to stash bash what I have left from the move. 

I did a huge purge of stuff last summer so I won't have to move it.

Now 'm working through the stuff I thought I needed to keep. Only bought one pack of new paper at the retreat but otherwise I'm right on target.

My second two pager of the year.

My girl friend from San Francisco visited us in late September of 2012

 and I thought the fall colors a natural choice for the layout 

Cut the star from cast of paper and used the felt flowers from my newly organized stash.

Along with my all time favorite bling swirls.

 I thought it was fitting as the layout has a picture of  the Oregon Ducks quarter back and Heisman trophy winner Marcus Mariota.  Too bad they didn't win the game the next day.  I'm showcasing this layout over at Stick it down as well.

So here we go with pages 4-8

 

Page 4&5

My first two page spread of the year.  The color is a little off in the photo as the paper is a bit more pink then orange, but oh well.  You get the idea

The whole layout was base around using this border. I choice the ginger bread man boarder because of the game pieces in Candy Land and it was a way to win more prizes from my consultant. 

 Easier said then done as I wanted to go more with the bright colors in the cake but settled for using the Parfait paper pack that I've had forever.

I choice all the papers and embellishments based on little Eloise's dress

I knew I wanted to use the rubber duck die cuts that I inherited from my Aunt Diane,

 so I worked from the ducks out to set up the layout. 

 I played with several layouts before coming up with this one as I  wanted to make it feel as if they were floating across the page. 

 Got the desired effect by adding the stripe of blue paper to mimic water
