Year end recap

I started off strong with my #2021goals of scraping 15 or more a day and blogging at least once a week.  Did fairly well until cross country seat started.  Lost my free weekends to coaching.  Still manages 91 post and over 100 layouts as a couple post featured multiple layouts.

Keep your fingers crossed for me as I’ve applied for a Design team spot for 2022.

LM #557 throwback

I absolutely loved the multi phot challenge earlier in the year and am glad to see it made the throwback list at Lasting Memories.  I used the CM December virtual crop sketch1 for this layout but rotated it to fit my photos.

I be got on more set of photos paired with paper from the fall retreat weekend packing.  Definitely makes the process go faster.  I’ll need to get the next group prepped this weekend.

Did a bit of fussy cutting of the floral paper in the kit and wasn’t sure I’d use them as these pictures are from an October canoe trip.  If the colors work why not, right?

Anything goes

Challenge YOURself #96- anything goes paired with TSR December jumpstart sketch.

My original thought was to make a wreath-type circle with the CM pine branch border maker punch.  A couple snips between the segments and I was able to shape the line into a semi-circle.  I love how the bottom one came out but not the top so I only used a half circle but the element is still there.  Added a couple of extra strips for pops of color. All of the paper is the B-side of the CM Halloween papers (toil and trouble, Hocus Hopcus and bats in the belfry)  Mixed in chipboard elements from MME happy camper. Plus the thicker phrase and some enamel dots all to document my daughter and I evening at the Eugene Symphony.

Final summer road trip pages

Finally finished the summer vacation section of the album with a title page for the front and a pocket page to hold maps/ brochures at the back.

I used a bunch of assorted travel themed ephemera and my label marker for the location strips

The back page was made with acetate sleeves that I closed off and decorated

Summer road trip

Finished up the last of the summer road trip photos and in the process found all of the maps and park newspapers that I was going to use on the layouts.  I managed to incorporate the one for Malad Gorge and snuck one into the Pikes peak layout but the other ones won’t be so easy.  I’m thinking about making a pocket page for all of them at the end of the trip and also create a title page to denote the start of the trip as I housed it in my chronological albums.

I’ll share what I come up with soon.  Thanks for stopping by to take a peak

Summer tea

Back with another layout from our summer road trip day 12

For this layout I cut down the Summer tea menu into smaller segments so that it would fit on the page.  The title banner is cut pieces from the parking permit.  Lucky that the soft blue works with the CM road trip papers.  Still have a little paper left and two more days to go.

I have more maps and memorabilia that I think I’ll work into th back of the pages or on the opening title page.  Still working that part out.  Thanks again for stopping by

Redefine Kreative

I’m playing along with the Redefine Kreative Facebook group on the December daily challenge.  Crate at least 15 minutes a day.  So far I’ve got 4 days in a row.  Super excited to share yet another road trip layout.

And a peak at my score card

EP- “Go,See,Do” kill a kit

Killing another TSR kit.  Every month the scraproom has a kill a kit challenge.  I picked two travel-themed TSR kits to use.  The first one was  Simple Sotries " Travel Note" and this one by Echo Park "Go,See, Do"

Here's what the kit looked like to start with.
2 white card stock
3 patterned papers
die cuts and clear epoxy stickers

This is Day 5 and 6 of our road trip- Arches National Park day 5.  Super hot and crowded, but beautiful.
Day 6 was a travel day with a brief lunch stop at Eagle creek water sports park.

Day 7 was our first day in Colorado Springs.
We hiked in Garden of the Gods and finished the day with a run in the thunderstorm

The embellishment clusters are a mix of the SS kit leftovers, word phrases, and enamel dots

This last layout is three days' worth of fun.
Day 8 was the 4th of July so we did a short walk at Memorial park before going to my brothers for dinner
Day 9 was a trip to Cave of the Winds and dinner at bonefish
Day 10 was Old Colorado Springs along with a trip to the El Paso County Museum

And this is all I have left

TSR Kit killing

I’ve finally started working on our summer road trip and did the first 3 days using my Simple Stories lTravel Note” kit from 6/2018.  Got 3 two page layouts done and don’t have much left from the kit.  I was originally going to mix kits so that the colors and embellishments through out but with 14 day to document I’m not going to be able to stretch the two kits I have.

Day one was a stop @ Clearwater Creek, Crater Lake and over night in Klamath Falls (Piano Project)

Day 2 morning run along the Klamath River and then Lava Beds National Monument

Day 3 we drove straight thru Nevada and stopped in Windover for the night so this layout is actually day 4 of the road trip.  Might have to change the title.
This layout is of our morning run which was in Nevada but the rest of the the rest of the day was in Utah.
Lepton Hills trail, visit to Wendover air base.  Home of the Ebola Gay hanger, Temple Square, and the Salt flats.

I’m still trying to get in 15 minutes of creating a day and have a new color chart as I’m also playing along with redefine kreative

TSR throwback

This is for the November scrap room throwback sketch.

I've had the American Crafts "Dear Lizzy" kits in my stash for a while as I put my membership on pause during the start of the pandemic when I was job sharing and uncertain as to what I could afford. (May 2020) so I know that the kits are at least a year old if not older.

I did two photos in place of one 4 x6 and also changed up the visual triangle.
I used the birds as the three points nesting the smaller puffy sticker birds on the cut apart frames.
skipping using a title too as I want the words on the background paper to stand out.
Finished it all off with a bit of journaling on the bottom piece of paper

Stash bash with a sketch

I love pairing sketches with stash challenges.  It gives me the opportunity to dive into my stash while not having to overthink the creative process of the layout.  Lasting memories most recent stash bash challenge is to use wood veneer, flair and/ or buttons- LM #574
I don't have much in the way of flair so I grabbed the next best thing- oversized pearl brad.  I also used a wood title and a smattering of buttons to document this year's harvest.

The buttons, brad, and title are from my stash everything else that I used is from my Fancy pants "good old days" kit from the scraproom kit club.  I'm currently on a pause from the monthly kits as I'm trying to work through my current stash of kits, so this challenge is perfect to help me make a dent

as for the sketch, it's another from the CM November virtual crop #1

Bubble tea

Another two challenges in one layout.

I used a single piece of pink washi, a bunch of stickers that coordinate with the paper and various circle punches

I made the center paper 8 1/2 x 8 1/2 so that I could use the salvage flip side for the circles.  Switched journal location and forgoing a title.  I tend to not use titles on layouts and let the photos and journaling tell the story.

PTC relay

CM had a virtual crop this weekend so I snagged this sketch to use.  I don’t play along with the crop as I typically don’t use a lot of CM papers.  Anyway I flipped the sketch and then dropped the circle.  I love the heart background paper and didn’t want to cover it up.

My photos are in reverse order of how my daughter ran her legs of the relay because I really wanted her last leg photo to be the featured photo.  6 plus miles in the dark and then sunrise leg.  I’ll have her journal on the notebook paper boarder down the side of the photos as I wasn’t there for the event

November sketch challenge

Back with another layout for 2021 using Rochelle Spears November sketch challenge.  For the last retreat I attended I worked on pairing photos with paper kits and I really wanted to use a pre made page that has been languishing in my stash but it was meant for 3 4x6 photos and I only had two.  The dilemma use the page or find a new pairing.  We’ll I deconstructed the original layout and salvaged the elements.

Here’s the sketch:

Stash bash with a sketch

I’m  participating in two challenges with this layout. The first one is Stash bash with Lasting Memories.  Here’s the details for the challenge: November is "Stash Bash". You will be given a choice of three items to use on your layouts. You can use just one of the items, two of the items, or all three of the items, and you are welcome to use other things on your layout, as well. The first challenge of the month is: #572 - Ephemera, Chipboard, and/or Tag

I used two- Ephemera and chipboard.  The chipboard arrow and circle were white chipboard piece from close to my heart that go with a matching stamp set and circut cartridge so it’s old.  Covered them with even older mulberry paper that I sprayed with shimmez.

The ephemera is mostly stickers from a CM summer themed pack.  Even though the the picture are from August they aren’t overly  summerish, but the words are universal.  The dots are a dollar store score from a while back as well.

The other challenge I’m participating in is the sketch challenge at Sketches in Thyme #491

 Here’s my take.

I had this mixed media water color looking paper in my stash for over a year now and final breaking into the paper pad.  I tried to leave a bit of the edge exposed but also follow the sketch with the addition of  chipboard, ephemera and photo cut outs of the candy packaging to mimic the border edge in the sketch.

Ultimook

I’m trying to keep to my personal goal of scraping at least 15 minutes a day and know that if I didn’t sneak in some time this morning that it would not happen today.  Managed to finish the journaling for this layout this morning.  Thought about a title but not going to do one this time.

I used a Pam Winn sketch for the base but added an additional 4x6 on the right hand side.  All photos are ones that I grabbed from the camp FB post

TSR October Jumpstart

 The Scraproom October Jump start

I rotated the sketch to work with my photo orientation. I also change the cluster shape to a hex as it mimics the game board piece

Fall retreat layouts

I got a bunch done at this fall retreat.  It's just what I needed to jumpstart the creative flow again.  I plan on getting back to regular creating and posting now that the cross country season is coming to a close.  One more meet this Sunday.

Here's the start of my 2021 album

Birthday layout of yours truly.  Combo of dessert and b-day run

First hike of the year with my adventure partner 'Jodie" at Horse Rock Ridge

Followed by the February hike at Whiteaker Creek.  I used CM winter wonderland collection
I tried to pick out mostly Creative memories papers and collections as I was at my CM advisors retreat

Almost used up all of this kit too.  I picked it for the embellishments, that went with the dog photos

For this one I went with the pink fresh " office hours" kit but used a CM template

More CM papers for this super-fast layout mixed with embellishments from my stash

I created this base during an online crop last spring with CM sisters ( Melisa Ulman) winter frolic paper.  It was perfect for my photos of my orienteering adventure with my PDX girlfriend Tami

Nothing like some spring colors to document as spring run with my girl

Fresh Fusion CM papers to capture our Spring break photos at the coast

CM Little lamb papers which are meant to be used as baby pages had the right color combos for this sweet Easter layout.  I also used my CM heart punch to create the eggs with a little trimming with my scissors.  Now that the kids are older we've moved away from egg hunts and baskets in favor of just plain candy in a bowl

A few of the sunrise photos to compliment so photos of the Beacon Rock sunrise hike that I did with Crystal and Tami.  I have a two page spread that I shared earlier for a Lasting Memories GDT layout

I did break out some mixed media a the retreat as well.  The ladies got a good clucking when I went back to my room to use the hairdryer on the page to get the white paint to dry faster.  Also used some Shimerz mist and paints along with a mix of embellishment leftovers from multiple kits

Covid birthday with one friend.  Video games, candy, and cake.

May hiking adventure was a short 3/4 mile hike into meditation Springs ( Hot Springs).  Not sure how much of the forest is left in the area after this summer firers

End of the year spirit week. Western wear with Tiff the Flamingo Rider. I work with some amazing people

Some pictures of my third scrap space in the house.  Last January I moved into my eldest daughter's room after she left for advanced training at job corp.  When we moved in 7 years ago I shared space in the den with my husband but his scout gear has slowly overtaken the space.  Now I'm set up in the front entry nook.  Small but adequate

I'm not really a fan of Vickie Bouton's bohemian style but the embellishments were a perfect pairing with my June hike of the Fitton Green/ Mt. Baldy hike with Jodie.  We saw this iridescent bluebird on the fence, A rubber boa on the trail, and a geocache surrounded by poison oak.  I created the large 5x7 photo by overlapping and trimming two 4x6 photos of the scenery from the top.

Documented my summer school job

Finished off the retreat by having this layout cut and ready for assembly at home.

I've always struggled with mixed font titles but love how this one turned out.
