Rush hour at childs play

Hello and happy almost-July! Remember you still have THREE MORE DAYS to give our Design Team Call a try, or link up your entries for any of our June challenges. We'd love to see your takes on Scrabble, Cozy Coupe, Where the Wild Things Are, and Sidewalk Chalk.
Today we're getting a head start on the month with our first challenge for July...we're asking you to create a project inspired by a favorite travel game, Rush Hour!

I'm sure I'm going to play along, but not just yet.
We'll see what I can get done this week.  Officaily all girl scout financial forms are due by the end of the week and I'm supposed to review them and turn them over to the GS council two weeks later.  Got 6 done so far and waiting for the 30 plus troops that haven't turned them in yet.
Got to love being a volunteer or I'm just plain crazy.

Winner and some retreat LO's

Lucky number 7 or Linda R.  You've won my candy.
Please contact me  this week with your address so I can send some of my favorite color your way.

I thought about spilling the beans on what color it really is, but I like keeping people guessing.
Here's  a few LO's I got done this weekend

Scrap retreat and a winner (soon)

I know I promised a winner posted by today for LMCB hop,
but I've just got back from a scrap retreat in beautiful Lincoln City

I'm working on collecting my favorite color items
and will have the kids draw a number for me in the  next few hours,
but in the mean time I want to share a few pic of my long weekend adventure

Thursday night to Sunday afternoon this is where I created
North end of the fourth floor.  I was at the table with my back to the stairs.
Had a spectactcular view of the ocean from my seat

 middle section of the room
 South end of the room
 View into the kitchen

My room mate and I were incharge of breakfast Friday to Sunday.
Here's the continential spread I set out on Saturday.  Sunday I made waffles.
Looking south from the scrapping room.  6AM saturday
The weather cleared rather nicely by the afternoon.  6PM

I'll post some of the layouts I got done soon

Let's get sketchy at Lasting Memories

This week at Lasting Memories it's all about the sketch
and here it is
JUNE24

I had a lot of fun with this sketch and the child's play challenge sidewalk chalk challenge

Here's what I did:
I switched up the sketch a little by using a bunch of hexes instead of a solid mat under the photo.
The cute flowers on the layout is one of the Digi darla stamps that the DT was provided for this sketch
I cut out the flowers and left off the vase to better fit my layout.
Colored the whole thing with CTMH chalk as well as the larger background mat.

A few little embellishments and it's done.

We'd love to see your take on the sketch.
Please link it by Saturday for your chance to win a Digi Darla Stamp

Use it Tuesday- Father's

If your here for Lasting Memories Blog Hop clik here

I have played along and designed for Use It Tuesday in the not so long ago past,so it's about time I get back to creating from my stash and playing along.

Here's what I did for my husbands Father's Day card

The paper are all from my stash.
The lime green paper is from a mini-album kit from CM that I got 2 years ago.
The word father is also from that kit, but I cut it down it used to say Fatherly love.

The only new items are the "Simply the best" and "matching frame"
that I got as a consultant gift on my last order

Time for June challenge #4, but before I get to that, did you see we have a Design Team Call going on right now? We'd love for you to give it a try and perhaps be added to our great crew here! Now on to today's challenge, we are playing with a favorite art supply, sidewalk chalk...

I'm still working on my chalk layout as the finished product will be posted on Sunday for Lasting Memories current challenge, but I thought I'd give you a sneak peak at the chalk work I've done.
I have used CTMH soft chalks (summer)  yellow, orange and red on a piece of cream card stock.  I applied the chalk with a qtip and smeared with my fingers.

So be sure to stop by again on Sunday, but in the mean time why not create a chalk inspired layout to share with us at Child's play challenge

Color me Happy Take 2

Okay so this is the second attempt at this post.
I'm not good with HTML code and my first post didn't go through.
So here it is

We have a celebration going on this week!! It's Lasting Memories 2nd Blogaversary!!! To celebrate, some of us are showcasing our layouts this week with a mini blog hop. Along the way there could be candy, so be sure to read each post! You may be asked to leave a comment, you may be asked to do something a little different, you just never know! Our challenge this week is an easy one .. it's an inspirational photo/color challenge and here's your photo!!

So lets get this party started!! If you're arrived here from SUZANNE you're on the right track! If you're just popping by, be sure to start at Karen's Blog so you don't miss a thing!
Here's my layout for this weeks challenge
These photos really crack me up. I love how penetrating my daughter's eyes are, yet her hair is a jumbled mass upon her head. She fell asleep with wet braids and this is the result the next morning.
For the challenge I have used a loose interpretation of Creative Scrappers sketch 212

I'm so glad to be finally using the chip board set I got a few years back at a garage sale.
The colors and wording work perfectly with this layout
a little bit of journaling instead of the line elements in the sketch.

Color me happy by leaving a comment and guessing my favorite color. I'm offering a small grab bag of things in my favorite color to one of my follower (LMDT included). I'll announce the winner on Monday June 18th.

Once you've hopped around, be sure to join the fun at Lasting Memories because Karen has decided to give one lucky entry a $25 gift certificate for Close To My Heart!!!

"This is open to everyone, including my DT and winner will be chosen by random.org. Help celebrate this milestone with us!!"

And now it's off to your next stop, Lasting Memories Challenge Blog
Have fun and be sure to enter your LO this week for a chance to win!

Here's an awesome sketch from Tanya Leigh Designs if you need a little help!!

Where the wild things are

The challenge over at Child's play Challenge is to Use the book
"Where the wild things are"
as your inspiration

I had a lot of fun with this one.  Here's what I did
Sometimes I think my oldest is a wild thing.
Here's a picture of her in a tent she made of sticks and a sheet.
Kind of reminds me of the one Max is building in the book
For the "Wild thing" page element.
I scanned a page from the book and fussy cut around the monster I wanted
Did the same thing with Max except put him up on some pop dots
I used modified lines from the book for my journaling and wrapped it around the title.
The bottom portion of the layout is heat embossed with topiary green
I was trying to mimic all of the cross hatching in the drawings from the book.
I wasn't crazy about how it looked  until I added the ribbon twine and buttons

So come find out where the wild things are over at Child's play
You have until the end of the month to link your challenge

I'm also entering this at
Seriously creative challenge:  Twine and buttons

Lasting memories sweating with the oldies

This week at Lasting Memories we are sweatin' to the oldies
using a "summer" song lyric from the 50's to 70's.
For my song I choose  Sitting on the dock of the Bay by Otis Redding

I thought it fit my photo of Sunset at Nye Beach really well

"Sitting on the dock of the Bay
watching the tide roll away"
For the Layout itself I'm using a slightly modified Skecthes in Thyme #80

I spaced the photos out so they don't over lap and my accent elements actually touch the edge of the photos

Also for this challenge I'm incorporating Scrap fit step class #5
Ombre- defined as having colors or tones that shade into each other.
I used four different colors of close to my heart ink pads ( yellow, sunflower yellow, orange and watermelon) and just ran them across a golden rod piece of card stock

Creative memories frame chain border punch with centers punched with standard hole punch
on a scrap of the ombre

Hope you're inspired to join us at lasting memories for this weeks challenge.

Make sure to stop by and welcome Stacia back to the team.
After a well deserved break she's up and running and supplying this weeks prize

Fireman Eric

As promised I'm back with a layout to play along with  Child's play challenge and a few other fun challenges

So let's start with Child's Play challenge- Cozy coupe.
I pulled the colors straight from the inspiration photo, right down to the little boys shirt too.
Little Tikes Cozy Coupe

The layout itself is from Sketch with a twist.
The twist is to use fabric
I did a combo of denim paper for the circles and real denim for the strips sticking out from under the buttons

I changed the photo placement  and circle size too.
I went larger  3.5 inches to accommodate my sweet sons face

Close up of left side of layout.  I made the buttons with my CM 1 1/4"circle punch.
I layered three pieces of punched card stock to give it some thickness.
Chalked the outer edge with white chalk ink and drew an inner circle with white gel pen to make it more like a real button.  The thread is thin strips of paper
Close up of title and journaling.

" Like most four year old, Eric is obsessed with fire trucks.
Not just trucks, but anything fire related.
Extinguishers, fire alarms, hoses and water
but most of all he love his fireman raincoat."

I'm also including a photo of his raincoat.
I know it's not in his closet.  It usually lives on the doorknob anyway.
The challenge over at True XOXO is the smell of fresh clean laundry- so dive into your closet for some inspiration.

I should also add this to Lasting Memories how do you fold as all the diamond tiles started out as circles that had the edges folded over

Rookie Box

Well it's that time of year again. Yup the end of the Girl scout year.
Not for my troop, but for most.
So to celebrate our service unit has an Award ceremony and bridging event tonight.
I've been busy creating the Rookie Leader Award box
I used a first aid case/ kit that I purchased to replenish my troops supplies.  Didn't need the case as the troop has a really nice one.  Covered the box with paper from K and company Brownie pad, assorted GS stickers and a super cool chipboard compass

Rookie Leader Award
Box contents
Whitman's Sampler because troops are like boxes of chocolate-
you'll never know what you'll get
Flashlight to light your way on the journey of scouting
Energizer batteries to give you energy to keep up with the girls
band aids for the scraps and bumps along the way

I'll have celebration pictures later
