Fun with son

Here's a few more pages I did while on retreat. 

 Now to get my husband and son to journal the pages.

I used mostly K and Company traditional boy scout paper.

Scouting the oregon trail

Got another Cub page for you inspired by sketch #181 from Sketches in thyme

 

I used some super old close to my heart paper mixed with some brown scraps

 

 

I stuck pretty close to the sketch using buttons instead of circle punches.

Pack 52 end of year celebration was capped off with a water balloon toss and fight

Chinese New year was the theme for the Packs Blue and Gold banquet

I hand cut the Chinese characters for this page.  Time consuming but not too difficult to copy for the photo above

 

Sewing

One of the boys electives was sewing

My husband set up a sewing machine so that the boys could sew on a few patches.  They also got to practice hand sewing with a kit I built for them with cardstock covered cardboard buttons, embroidery floss and felt.

 

Tigers at News 16

I used a patterned paper that kind of mimics the NBC peacock and made the middle strip with a newsprint paper to carry the NEWS theme

Pinewood Derby 2015

I didn't have a lot of photos from the Derby and had to rely on facebook downloads

I also didn't have a close up of my sons car thus the die cut police car.  

I created the border at the top of the page with a CM border maker punch (banner) and then added washi tape to get the checker board pattern like the flags in the photo

Fire safety

pack 52 was visited by Lane Rural Fire department for a special presentation on fire safety

 

I used the cardstock fire truck cut apart as embellishments for the page

as well as added the sticker the boys received.

 

In the photo of the boys and the fire fighter I had to do a little cut and paste.

 The boys were blurry in the photo with fireman and the one that was good really didn't have much of the fireman in it.  Think it turned out fine

Sleeping with the sharks

This two page spread was done on DCWV all about boys paper.  I took the color cues from the octopus on the paper and my son's jacket

The boys got to sleep in the viewing tunnels at the Oregon coast aquarium 

again the journaling is blank and awaiting my husband to finish the job.  I'm sure he'll get to it soon as I just finished the pages this past weekend at my retreat

 

more paper from all about boys.  I didn't want to cover up all the cool background print so I cut around som of the images and slid the paper under the jelly fish ( top right corner), the red fish ( top left) and the crab ( bottom left).  See below

 

 

The starfish photo and the fish are from those photo op boards that the kids can stick their heads through.  I didn't want the other kids in the photo and didn't have room for both the starfish and blue fish without cutting them out. Stuck them on pop dots for some added dimension

 

 

Scout awards pages

Some of these may look familiar as I featured them before as they are from the 1st scout awards Eric received as a Bobcat and Tiger

I took photos of the tiger belt loops to add to the page.

Eric earned the soccer and the other two were from Auston and Isaac

 

And here he is with his tiger strips all painted on.

 

I'm sharing this with lasting memories for their anything goes challenge as long as it fits the  "New Beginnings" the challenge is to show lasting memories what you do that's new. Activity, sport, project, hobby, making a new friend...

 

Camp Dakpta with Sketches in thyme

I'm finally getting back into the swing of scrapping.  I was fortunate to have had a weekend getaway at the Oregon 4-H center for a scrap retreat.  I put together this layout based on Sketches in thyme #182.  I changed the orientation of the sketch as well as added a photo instead of a journal box, but I think you can see the original plan in the final layout

 

 

 

 

I distressed the title by sanding my thicker sticker letters

 

The sign post is from a die cut set.  I used the matching frame as a photo mat instead of a frame so you could see more of the photo of my son on the climbing wall.  I also matted the sign post so that it would pop on the darker photos

 

Scouting for food

Finally got it done and glad to be moving onto the next project. 

Not super thrilled with the final results.  Thinking I should have left of the paint spots but I was going for my P item on the Stamp challenge at Scrap our stash

 

 

Word of choice this month is: "STAMPS", I used the following:

 

S - Stencil for letters and Arrows

T- Tags

A- Arrows 

M- metal brads

P- paint

could have stopped at P for pen

 

oh well live and learn

 

 

 



2 Tweet cards

Not the post I thought I was going to do next, but still a scout one none the less.

 

I've been busy delivering our troops boxes of Gift of caring cookies.  1st case has been deposited with a peer trainer for foster kids.  They put out cookies and treats during supervised visits between kids and biological parents.  Next boxes is ready to go down to the blood bank for distribution to mobile blood draw sites.  Nothing like a quick girl scout cookie pick me up after donating a pint.  I just finished packing two flat rate boxes with another case of cookies for our US troops in Okinawa, Japan, thus the cards in the post.  Now that it's in the mail.  I thought I'd share.

I used the same basic design on both of them and Love how cute they turned out.

I picked up the felt supplies  at Target for making valentines. 

 Just opened the package yesterday though

 

Okay so ne4xt post coming soon will really be of the cub food drive.

Although I still have 1 more case of cookie to get delivered so who knows

 



Punkin Chunkin

Working my way through the beginning of my sons Scout year and found this great sketch to use over at Scrap Book Challenge #443

 

I flipped the sketch

 as my subjects where facing the other direction and I wanted them looking towards the title instead of off the page. 

I also floated the photo of my son up a bit more then in the sketch to fill in the blank space.

It also follows the eye line of in the larger 6x6 photo

I created the larger photo by splicing together two photos.

Repeat kind of

   For the 2013 Blue and Gold silent auction I created a premade scout page along with a description of my services for a four hour scrap session for the highest bidder. I kept the premade page and support materials as the winning bid wanted to do a baby book.

 

    I'm kicking myself right now as I didn't take a before shot of the page, thinking I still had the post of the original project.  Silly me. Can't find it after much hunting, but if this looks familiar you'll know why.

Totally wish I could have found the old post and give credit to the sketch artist I followed as well.

Originally it was designed for 2 stacked 4x4 photos on a long mat.  I choose to use a 4x6 photo and shorten the mat while adding 2 smaller photos below the main focal photo.

I added the Blue background and mat to the existing pieces to create this quick and easy page of my son receiving his Bobcat award

Soccer Golf with Stuck

Yeah I'm scrapping again after a 6 week break due to Girl Scout cookie season.

Our troop did awesome with almost 7000 boxes sold, but now it's time to switch gears and get my Boy Scout creative mojo going.

 

I found a great sketch over at Stuck

 

 

I rotated the sketch to work with my photo orientation

 

 

I also left out all the extra circles to keep the focus on the Soccer ball/ large circle element to carry the theme of the layout.  I did however keep the triangle and stitching.

 

 

Tried some paint splatter, but it doesn't show well on the dark background paper.

 

All the paper/ alpha is K and Company BSA traditional paper

 

Crazy busy

Yes, Girl scout cookie sales has taken over my life again, but that's what happens when you manage a group of 33 girls.  The only crafting I've got in has been this Thank you card for my son's Tiger Den.
The boys went to the local TV station for a tour and got to be on camera at the end of the show.

I love the Washi tape over the brown ribbon and I love that I'm stash busting again.  The paper is a scrap piece from another scout page and the paw print sticker and square are recycled from a blank camping album I took apart.  Thank You is in all capital letters as that what was left of the yellow alpha stickers.

Unscrappy but creative endeavers

Can't wait for Friday to get back to scrapping. 

 No school no work just fun

in the mean time I wanted to share what I have spent my time on

and of course the framed layout I did of my mother in law from the 1950's

I also made a poster with WAGGGS pin info and a cute green piggy bank for the world friendship fund although my daughter thinks it's creepy.
