Harlem Globetrotters

I'm back with another cub scouts layout that was inspired
by the following sketch from SBC #469

469

and the blues challenge at lasting memories

I used the blues and red, but left out the tan in favorer of using white

I also changed the photo dimensions from the layout as I wanted the team/ pack photo to be 5X7 the ticket and photo of my son are closer to the specified size although I switched up the sequence

The ticket stub is a fun item to keep on the page instead of another photo

Pirates vs Ninjas

Woo who I'm finally back playing along with Lasting Memories for there "Blues" challenge.  I tried joining in last month but missed the deadline by a few hours.   Sad,  yet motivating.  I'm trying to find time for more scrapping this year.  So here we go with another Cub scout Layout, this time of my son and husband at camp for Pirates vs Ninjas.

I used the sketch 470 from SCB as my starting point
470
I went more linear with straight up and down photo orientation as the striped paper made it look funky all angled

and combined it with this color palate

from lasting memories

as you can see I replaced the two stars with one larger embellishment.  I hand cut around this cute pirate ship from DCWV all about boys pad.  I used the scraps to mount the photo below

Yes this Captain Jack is my husband Ben

for the second page I used a half and half approach.  One side pirate one side Ninja

Upper Butte Creek fall

I'm playing along with Stuck Sketches  for the sketch

Let's start with the sketch I used from Stuck

I used the main structure of the layout, but eliminated the circle behind the photos, as well as the embellishments.   I only added the large compass rose to tie into the hiking theme of the layout.
I popped it up on a foam square to add some more dimension and layers to the layout as per the challenge at SBC.

I stayed with the earthy tones to keep inline with the page next to it (Camp Dakota)

fun with son update

I had a chance to do some updates to the Fun with son pages.
I added the wood badge for my sons nature detective that he's receiving in the photos.
I also left lots of room for the boys to write all about earning the detective badge too.

This is a color copy of the badge as the real thing is 1/4 thick.  I mounted the copy on cardstock and popped it up on foam squares to give it some dimension.  The ribbon is crepe paper as I didn't have red ribbon and using regular paper to create the ribbon just wouldn't look right

For the last page documenting camp I created a pocket for the camp map. I used an 8 1/2 x 11 page protector cut down and fused it closed on one side with my food vacuum sealer.
Quick and easy custom pocket

I also highlighted the unit name on the map which you can just see in the lower left corner.
I did cut the edge of the map on one side so that when it was folded the full name of Camp Baker was visible.  I deliberately didn't center it under the photo as I didn't want to cover the flor de lis.

Fun with son

Here's a few more pages I did while on retreat.
Now to get my husband and son to journal the pages.

Opening page for the camp layouts

Shooting activities at camp- Sling shout, bb guns and archery

fishing with the STEP ( Salmon and trout enhancement program) team

Selfie tour of places around camp.  It was part of a game the boys did to get to know camp

nature detective award

last day of camp

I used mostly K and Company traditional boy scout paper.
Starting to run out and can't find more so you'll be seeing a different variety coming soon
