Summer Days at lasting memories

Welcome to the final  August color challenge  at lasting memories.  We are finishing of the month with Summer Days - Use colors of photo for inspiration. "Day Colors"

Here's my take on the challenge

Don't let the title stump you.  My layout isn't summer based, just the color palette is.  I'm documenting my son's Valentine Tea party with his kindergarten class.  I pulled in the colors from the flowers but also used flowers as well.

I  used the TSR August Throwback challenge as inspiration for this layout

and am happy to report that I almost used up my left over TSR  Pink Paislee Fancy free kit from June as well as My Minds Eye On Trend 2 from May.

Hope your inspired to create along with us at lasting memories.

Light of Christ

I'm finally scrapping just because.  yeah!!
Actually I got motivated to scrap these scout picture as I was organizing photos to figure out the next big order from Walgreens during the 40% off summer sale.

I used the week4, Team B sketch from

I stuck close to the sketch other then dropping the title placement lower and adding a few stars

and a close up of the Journaling

So glad to be scrapping but should be heading to bed.  Thanks for stopping by to take a peak

Summer Nights at Lasting memories

August Challenge theme- Color or coloring
This weeks challenge is to use the photo for color inspiration.

If you've missed the last few weeks like myself.  You can find the other weekly challenges in the side bar at Lasting memories.  I've been just keeping up with LMDT assignments as my last few weeks have been crazy busy with scouts.  In the last few days I have slept in my own bed one night with an Adult Girl scout Trainer Training weekend, over night break then off to Cub Resident camp for three days.  Still can't believe that I have provided 63.5 hours of training to other adult leaders.

For my Layout I choose the photos from the color selection as you can see the deep pinks in my daughters dress.  I also wanted to go with more of the color scheme from the photo but sunsets around here are more cotton candy colored then the deep pinks, purples and blues, so I went a little lighter but the same idea

I used the following challenges for my inspiration
This or that challenge- I used washi tape
and  I used the bonus sketch

I added a few hand cut flowers, but felt that the layout still felt really flat so I broke out the buttons and floss for some added embellishment.  Then topped it all off with the sparkly bling.  I used the cluster of flowers poking out from behind the photo to draw  the eye into the photo of the girls since the layout was a bit busy with patterns

Thanks for stopping by to take a peak.  I hope you join us this week at lasting memories

Creative slow down

So I've been in a bit of a creative slump.  Not that I don't want to create but rather have limited time to create.  I finally had a chance to get crafty this morning only because I wasn't teaching swim lessons. I took last week off from work to help run a Girl Scout Day camp which was also the same week of a new swim session.  I'm going to try and get something fun and inspiring up, but for now I'm just trying to keep up with my DT comittiment.  Hoping for another crafty session tonight.  In the meantime here's a peak at my crazy scheduled life.
And a close up of this month which needs to have an orthodontist appointment added, a GS girl planning meeting, a troop leadership meeting and water ex meeting all happening in the last two days of the month.

Black and White plus one color

Welcome to another August challenge at lasting memories
This week we are continuing the Color themed with Black and White plus one color.

Originally I was going to go with Pink as my daughter Danielle has pink flowers on her first communion dress, but then I found the " Be the light" chip board embellishment from my TSR kit BoBunny Believe.

The hints of yellow really drive home the feeling of light and emphasize the pharse " Be the Light".
Couldn't ask for a better way to highlight her first Holy communion.

I used sketch #110 from sketch-n-scrap

You have until the end of the month to play along with the color challenges.
If you missed last weeks challenge you can find it here.

Thanks for stopping by.
