Get air

I had the chance to squeeze in a quick layout this morning.
I used sketches in thyme #190 for this one of Cub scout Pack 52 at Get Air

I used the company logo from the get Air website to create the title for the layout.
I also used more then the 2 photos, but thought that the photo area on the sketch was rather large so it could easily fit photos stacked

The other modification I made was to switch out tags for triangles and went with one less.  I feel like the triangle mimics the arrow from the title and it doubles as a journal space

The last little bit I'm going to share is the embellishments at the top of the page.  I wanted some flourishes that are more masculine as I'm playing along with shopping our stash
with items from my big craft score back on March5, 2013.  And the items we only new to me back then so who knows how long these little gems and plastic shapes have been sitting.

I know the challenge is supposed to be something for the big boys or bigger boy, but I really tried to steer clear of the juvenile touches on this layout of the cubs

Robot

I'm back with another scout layout.  I'm almost done with 2015 just have the Pack Christmas Party to do and I'll be ready to roll out 2016 Scout pictures.  Still trying to get up to date so as events happen I can just print and create.  I know I'm dreaming.  Besides my husband needs to get on the ball too and do the journaling.  I can only do so much.

I used sketches in thyme #189 as my inspiration

and here's my take:

I stuck close to the general layout of the sketch except for bunching the photos a bit.  I wanted them to mostly fall on the Green text paper (K and Company scout paper)  I like the words but they were a bit too outdoorsy for the layout.  How ever the color worked really well with the ribbons that I made the stripes with.

I journaled directly on the background paper as
I didn't want to cover it up completely with a journal box.

I also cut back on the number of embellishments in the layout to just the one big one near the photo cluster and the gear chain at the bottom.

Originally I thought I'd journal on the chain but wasn't sure it would fit or be easy to follow around the gears.  Instead I added my won hand draw highlights for more texture

I cut the title with Boys will be Boys circuit font on my new Cricut explore.  Had a tough time figuring out the dial setting for the sparkly blue paper.  Some of the edges didn't come out super crisp but I'm learning

Thanks for stopping by.  Hope to have another layout up soon

to get back at it...so without further ado

Murals

I'm taking a scrap break and doing other craftiness today.  Actually I've been working on it since last night.  I'm using images from the pack invitation to create a few different murals that will be hung around the gym.

Just getting started with the more complete shots below.  I was posting my progress to facebook  and thought it might be nice to blog about it to.  Having a blast playing with dry tempera paints, Mr. Sketch markers and crayons.  Can't forget the glittery night sky too.  Sprinkled with wreck less abandon.

These are the images on the first mural from last night.  I totally love how the owl turned out.

And here is the start of mural #2.  similar tents but this time I have bushes in the background and a squirrel family in the foreground as what camping trip would be complete without squirrels

Outdoor activity award

I found another awesome sketch over at the ScrapRoom for a layout of my son receiving the
 Cub Scout Outdoor Activity Award

I only had the one photo of Eric receiving the award,
so I got creative and used one of the squares for the  journaling

To earn the outdoor activity award for Wolves the scout has to have earn the "Paws on the Path" as well as participate in 5 additional outdoor activities.  Eric completed most of the requirements at  Fun with Son campout, Pirates vs. Ninja campout, Pack overnight at Camp Dakota and Scouting the Oregon Trail at day camp.  Some of the things he did were take a nature hike/ observe nature, participate in an aquatic activity and participate in a campfire.

For my other square without a photo I made a color copy of the pocket flap award.
I didn't have enough of the dark blue and had to piece together 2- 2 inch stripes of paper.
The center seam almost looks like the pocket pleat.

I also made a color copy of the Summer Time Pack award which was earned by attending
Pack overnight, Resident camp and Day camp.
popped it up on a foam square as an additional embellishment

I'm up to November 2015 so only a few more pages till I get to 2016 scout events

Food drive 2015

Okay so I didn't quit get the 3rd layout of the day done, but close.

This one is of Pack 52 food drive

I'm playing along with scrap our stash sketch challenge
You have to use 3 photos and one item for each list

From list one I used both Graphic paper (chevron pattern) and gold cut Flower.
I think it's a bit more shimmery in real life.

From list 2 I used both hot pink and hearts
The hot pink is easy to spot but the hearts are more subtle.  I actually colored them in with red ink pen and mounted/ framed with my circle punch

From list 3 I used ink as mentioned above on the hearts and then chalk ink around the photo mat and the gold cut flower

Thanks for taking a look.  I had fun with this challenge and never thought I'd use Pink in a boy scout album.

Awards- October 2015

I have another scout one for you.  This time it's the monthly pack meeting awards.
I used this great sketch 474 from Scrapbook challenges
474

I tried using a chevron patterned paper, but didn't like the way it was turning out.  So plaid it is

I dropped the title a bit lower as I didn't want to cover the smaller 3x3 photo.  By placing it lower it left an awkward hole that I filled with a quick journal strip.

The larger photo is actually two photos married together.
The angles aren't quit the same but it works well enough

Okay now to get one more layout done before bed

Fun with son 2015

I hope you're not getting tired of only seeIng layouts  of my son and his cub scout pack but I'm on a roll with getting his scout album caught up to date.  The big incentive is to have it done in time for this months pack meeting.  It's the Eagle themed meeting and my husband and I want to share some ideas for documenting the boys journey to Eagle.  I know Eric has a ways to go as he is only a wolf

I used the sketch from stuck March 15th reveal.

I switched out the scalloped edge for the chevron and rotated the sketch.  The title is a color copy of my sons camp shirt so are the Calvin and Hobbes characters.

I'll be back with another scout page soon

Anything goes at the Oscars with Lasting Memories

This weeks challenge at Lasting memories is an anything goes- as long as it continues the Oscar theme of the month.  I chose to go with the red carpet moment.  And here's my little star strutting his stuff and showing of his participant award and car from pine wood derby.

I based my layout on Sketches in Thyme # 187

I turned the layout and added a few more photos to the sketch.  I actually like the sketch so much that you'll see it again soon for the Award goes to challenge going live on March 27th

close up of the layout.  The die cut car is from K and Company cub scout pack and almost looks like my son's finished car.  His is the purple car 3rd from the left on the bottom row.

Hope you come join us for the anything goes at Lasting Memories Oscar month.

Scout night at the Em's game

If you've just starting following along I been on a bit of a cub scout layout spree
 and here's the reasons why.

1. My husband has to do most of the journaling as I haven't been to all of the cub events and I want him to get it done while it's fresh.
2. My husband  Ben is the wolf  Den leader so I'm sure that things are going to start running together if it's not done soon.
3.  The Eagle  Scout themed pack meeting is at the end of this month and I want to showcase how you can document the boys path to Eagle.  It will be a blast to pull out the scout albums during the ceremony and say remember when.  Also I won't be scrambling at the last minute to pull it all together.
4. I also want to show case my talent so that when the silent auction comes around at this years Blue and Gold banquet people will know what kind of pages I can help them create if the price is right.

I used the following sketch from Stick it down

I love all the large circle elements as they remind me of baseballs and what better way to document Pack 52's overnight at the Eugene Emeralds game.

I made a few tweaks to the sketch

like using the tickets instead of the banner elements and the photo at the bottom is smaller as I wanted more of the ball open for journaling

For the square elements at the top I used photo booth style photos cut into 2x2 squares

I also stretched the title across both pages and left off the banners again

this photo was also cropped to be a bit smaller so that the wrist band my son wore would be about the same size of the picture  and you get to see more of my freehand stitching on the balls

I hope you've enjoyed my take on the sketch.  I'll be back with more photos of my son and his fellow cubs as I have the rest of 2015 to current to finish by the end of the month.  No pressure
