Winter crop

Just a few of the layouts I created today at my scrap retreat.  I have a few more that I’ve done but have not had the chance to photograph them as the lighting is not the best.

This one is based on TSR freaky fast formula for February

CM virtual crop #3

I used the sketch from Creative Memories virtual crop #3 for February, however, I'm not using Cm products so only posting to my own blog.  Even though you're supposed to be able to post to the FB group I've had my prior post deleted for not having CM products, So here we go...

I altered the sketch a bit as I used a solid patterned sheet for my background instead of blocks and I also only used two photos and the third spot became my journal block.  I had fun creating this layout with Fancy pants "poolside" kit from TSR.  Another kit mostly killed... I saved the solid white card stock and only have a few scraps of the pattern paper and a couple of puffy stickers in my stash now

Hope you like my creation

Sketch In thyme #457

Joining in on another challenge this week with this sketch from S.I.T

I adapted the sketch by double matting my 4x6 photo to fill 5x7 space at the top of the layout and I went a bit larger on the bottom photos as I didn't want to lose too much of my daughter to cropping.

For the layout, I used my TSR kit AC shimelle "sparkle city" mixed with phrase stickers from my stash and a bit of pink stitching along my daughter's back to define the edge of the photo.

the embellishment clusters are from the sticker/ puffy sticker pack in the kit.  I played up the title by also using the globe sticker in the top cluster.  I also tied in my journaling along the right-hand side to go with the title as I love my daughter's view of the world. Her sense of adventure and her willingness to explore.

Thaks for stopping by

TSR jumpstart

I rotated the February jumpstart sketch to work with my photo orientation to document the family playing Star Trek Catan.  I used Echo Park “Imagine that” from my April 2018 kit.  I also added in puffy starts and rhinestones from my stash.  Did some fussy cutting of the cute rocket ship from a cut apart page.

Pink fresh creation with use your stash

The banners are all fussy cut from a 12x12 sheet as the banners were all on the right hand side of the page which limited my photo placement.  Since the banners were all oriented the same direction the words/ phrases are all on the same side and the pattern /solid were flipped.
The kit I’m using also had a bunch of awesome puffy sticker words and flowers.  Since the banners had phrases on the right hand side I opted to use the puffy sticker words on the left to balance it out.
The remainder of the embellishments are either die cuts or from the cut apart sheet.  Plus a few enamel dots.

I’m entering this in the use your stash favorite challenge as the last few layouts I’ve completed have had some sort of fussy cutting and have been enjoying it immensely.

Scrap our stash February sketch

The February sketch at Scrap our stash was perfect for documenting my son's birthday.

I double layered all the pieces by matting on white cardstock and then inking the edges with red.

Substituted a square shape for the large circle and moved the banner down to above the title, but all the elements are still there.  I was able to even sneak in a heart to hold the 12th in the title work.  Handstitched around it too.

I was worried that the animal stickers might make the layout too juvenile but they work nicely as anchors for the embellishment clusters

I might go back and add some journal stripes above the title to document the fact that it was just a family party as we couldn't invite people over to celebrate with COvid amping up

Valentine craftiness

I hope everyone had a great Valentine's day.  With the kids getting older and not making cards to exchange at school I thought it would be fun to make some cute tags and attach them to bags of chocolate covered pretzels

I made one for all the Kids and Sam

used my newer CM tag punch and my very old heart punches.  Sprinkled with tiny paper flowers, finished with rhinestone centers, bakers twine, and colored staples.

Power hour with Meggan and Tessa

I zoomed along with Meggan and Tessa February Power hour.
This is the second of two layouts that I have done about the upgrades to the cottage.
CM "Smitten" paper pack was a perfect choice as the colors go great with the pictures.  I had to make my own embellishments though.  I punched butterflies from the color squares I cut from the packaging page.

This is a sampling of the squares I cut.  They're perfect for making matching embellishments as the colors are spot on to the designer sheets but the print is on a smaller scale.  Going to use this trick more often.

aside from the punched embellishments I used a few enamel dots/ hearts and cut my title with the circut

TSR throw back and a bonus

I used the throwback sketch from TSR to create this layout about my daughter and I run in Monroe last April

I stayed close to the sketch but went with a 4x 4 photo of the painted rock on a larger mat to fill the same space.  The title is fussy cut from a 4x4 card and I used the phrase strips instead of journaling. Love the vibrant colors from simple stories "Dream Big"

The bonus layout is from Meggan Jacks and Tessa's power hour for February.  This particular layout design is courtesy of Tessa Chappel.  I used CM "smitten"  along with homemade embellishments and stickle drops.  Just need to get some journaling done so I can stick it in my album.

Kill a kit part #2

I feel like this kit must be a double kit or was added to as it had five sheets of card stock and 4 patterned papers plus the sticker sheet and die-cut embellishments.  I’ll have to check the kit tag.  I did a lot of combining duplicate kits when I inherited my friend Mary’s paper stash.  We both subscribed to the scrap room kit club.  Anyway I’m getting closer to finishing it off as I made another layout and two cards

I used another sketch from Scrapbook generation but altered it by rotating the orientation and reducing the number of photos.  I also gave mixed media a try.  I really struggled with the gesso application as my brush was losing bristles into the medium.  Ended up scraping most of it off so I didn't get very even or thick coverage.
On the plus side, I picked up a silicon brush at Hobby lobby today.

I  made two cards in an effort to use more of my stash

And this is what I have left.

Just a happy coincidence but Lasting Memories current challenge is to get painty.
I used gesso on the background and then painted on shimmerz "taupe of the mornin' vibez and Old yeller inklingz".  I also splattered "seas the day "vibez and white acrylic paint on the background

February Kill a kit Part #1

This weekend I want to kill a kit.  I've been inspired by the lovely ladies over at the scrap room to try and finish off an entire kit.  I typically don't use the same line/ kit on multiple creations as a chronological scrapper but this one and the next are going into two separate albums.

This one is going into Eric's Scout album to document his work on the Gardening Merit Badge

I got a bit creative and used the backside of the die-cut as my journal card.
Just a bit of chalk ink around the edges and some pink lines

And this is what I have left to work with.  A full sheet of patterned paper and a full sheet of card stock.  Everything else is partial pieces.  I do have a single page layout in mind and will probably make an Easter card with the leftovers

Scrapbook Generations sketches

During my afternoon at the High School I spend my time pulling staples and paper clips from old files to prep them for shredding.  To make the time pass more quickly I’ve started watching YouTube scrapbook videos.  I stumbled on to Allison Davis of SG sketch support series.  I also printed a bunch of the free sketches from the SG website.
This first one is from the second sketch support sketch.
I altered the sketch by replacing the star elements with houses and hearts on the left hand side and a rainbow on the right.  Also no title just phrase stickers.  The change helps tell the story of Danielle at her wits end of being stuck in the house with no where to go due to Covid-19.
This layout is based on SG 2020 NSD single page sketch. I only used one photo and replaced the additional photos with large stickers and journal box.

Last thing is an updated photo of my daily scrap/ create challenge.  Light color is 15-30 minutes of creativity.  Dark 30 plus
