Scrabble at Lasting memories

Welcome back for another of Lasting Memories July  "Childhood Games" themed challenges. Each week the design team at LMCB has made a layout based on the photo/game to inspire you. This week we have the game Scrabble as our inspiration.  You can use anything from the photo below as inspiration.  All challenges this month are open for entries until July 29th.
Head on over to Lasting Memories for a full list of challenges.

I picked up these vintage titles from a neat little store (the Haven) in downtown Springfield, Or.  I thought I might do an altered art project with them and still might with the letters I didn't use.

The tiles are pretty chunky so I popped the photos up on two layers of heavy cardstock and foam squares so that the height distance wasn't so drastic.

I based my layout on Sketches in Thyme #207 sketch.  The overall feel is similar but I changed the orientation of the photos, title and banner.  I also used pearl dots instead of paint splatter.

I tried toning down the darkness of the brown paper by using a chalk marker to give it a faux wood grain look since the photos are of my kids climbing the Christmas trees.

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you join us this week at lasting memories

Christmas morning 2013

Finishing up 2013 with a sketch from creative memories using the new
A year to Remember part 2 paper pack.  Here's the sketch:
July CM Sketch

and here's what I did:

I changed it up a bit by adding an additional photo on booth sides.
I also didn't use the circle elements instead I used the embellishments that go with the paper pack.  Also I combined "A year to remember Part 1 &2 as they coordinate so well.

So the Part one " a year to remember" paper is the blue with dots and the embellishments are the red arrow, the red and green pennant.  Everything else is from part 2

That's it for now.
Come back again soon as my Sunday reveal for lasting memories is up next

Blog Hop Prize winner

I was going to hold off until the end of the month, but the comments on the blog hop have come to a screeching halt, so it's time to announce the lucky winner "Jennifer Earley".  Thanks for being so patient and I've put a little something extra in the envelope.  Just need an address to send it to.  Please contact me for your prize.

Light parade

Happy Sunday and reveal day at Lasting memories.  If you are looking for this weeks challenge and some inspiration from me you can find it Here.

Christmas in July!  Sort of, I just happen to be up to December of 2013 in my stash of photos.
I'm using the following sketch #109 from Sketch -n- scrap for my layout inspiration.

and here's my take.

I have almost finished of my CM holiday paper.  Also pulled out some fibers.
I still have a ton of the embellishments though.  oh well still making a dent in the stash

Lasting memories- Candyland

This week at Lasting Memories we are featuring the childhood game of Candyland.
You can use anything from the photo below for inspiration.

Our designers went with  colors from the board, pattern of block of color then a picture as well as used candy shaped embellishments.  Make sure to check them out.

I might try and play along this week now that I'm done with Cub Scout day camp.
I just didn't have the time or energy this past week to get anything ready for the reveal.
Good thing it's my off week anyway.

Although I do have a layout along these lines from a while back (Jan 2015)

frosty fun

If you are looking for my Sunday Lasting Memories DT reveal for you can find the snakes and ladders here.  You can also find last weeks marble inspired blog hop here too.

I'm working my way through the last of my 2013 photos.
I used one half of a two page layout sketch from Stick it down for this layout.

I felt that the flags and banners were too summery for this layout, so I went with just the right side and moved the title over to make it all come together.

I created my own background paper by rubbing and tapping the textured white cardstock with light blue chalk ink.  Kind of has that fluffy feel like the snow.

I also altered the title as it had a frame around it that was a kind of fancy scroll.
To much scroll for all of the linear elements to blend well.
I softened the overall feel by doodling with white pen.

Thanks for taking a look

sleepover using sketch-n-scrap #108

If you are looking for my Sunday Lasting Memories DT reveal for you can find the snakes and ladders here.  You can also find last weeks marble inspired blog hop here too.

I'm taking advantage of our rainy afternoon to get another layout done.  I'm super excited to have used up some more of my scrap stash.  I kept a 7X7 sleep over/ BFF kit that I bought on clearance years ago.  I figured with 3 girls eventually I'd use it so it didn't get cleared out in the summer purge.

I used this sketch from Sketch-n-scrap

I rotated the sketch 90degrees, but followed it fairly close to original
and here's my take

instead of having a subtitle like the sketch I went with a bunch of chipboard embellishments mixed with stickers

for the smaller tab I skipped the dollie and went with another chipboard and supporting stickers.
No need to journal as this says it all.

Thanks for taking a peek.  Now off to my next creation

Snakes and Ladders at Lasting Memories

Welcome back for another of Lasting Memories July  "Childhood Games" themed challenges. Each week the design team at LMCB will make a layout based on the photo/game to inspire you. The  first challenge was a blog hop inspired by "Marbles". You can find my hop entry Here.  It's not to late to hop along as I will be awarding my personal goodies at the end of the month.   I think I might just have to add to it too, a little something for each challenge.  I'll be back soon with a photo of this weeks goodie.  All challenges this month are open for entries until July 29th.
Head on over to Lasting Memories for a full list of challenges.

This week we are creating with inspiration from Snakes and Ladders

You can use snakes like our guest DT Lauren
or you can use the grid/ blocks as your inspiration like Lori, Sandy and Tina
How you interrupt the challenge is up to you.

I was inspired by the ladders and thought for sure I'd have something in my stash of photos that would work. Surprisingly with the amount of climbing around that my children do I don't have a single shot of one on a ladder in the stack of 2013 photos I'm working through.

But what I do have is even better.
My little monkey Eric
He can climb anything without a ladder and here's my layout to prove it!

I used the single page sketch from Stick it Down.
I altered it a bit as the banana eating Eric photo was oriented in the wrong direction, so I cut it down and matted it on the same background paper as the other photo.  I also created a little height and fux ladder for my title with thinner strips of the same paper.

Seriously he is a monkey as he didn't use the counter to get to the top but rather climbed the face of the fridge.  Bottom freezer door handle to baby lock on the upper dual opening doors to the top.

Can't wait to see what you come up with.

Jump Start July with TSR

Using up the last of my June Photo Play Summer Day Dream Kit
and playing along with the current sketch at the Scrap Room

I used a little bit of photo play Happy Glamper (orange circles)
and also pulled out the plastic disk that is layered over some of the summer paper.
Love how the stickers work with the over all layout too.

I  had to hide part of the photo of me in my guard uniform as it got tape residue on it that I couldn't get off with out ruining the photo.

Lasting Memories 300th Challenge blog hop

GHello everyone! Welcome to Lasting Memories 300th challenge blog hop!

Several of our design team members are playing along and offering up some blog candy, so be sure to stop by each of their blogs. You should have arrived here by way of Lori's blog . If you get lost along the way, or just want to start from the beginning, you can find the complete list on the Lasting Memories blog.

Our theme for July is "Childhood Games". Each week you will make your layout based on the photo/game provided. Our first challenge is "Marbles". Here is your inspiration photo:

For my layout this week I was inspired to paint with marbles....

Here's the page in progress after rolling around the paint covered marbles on a white piece of cardstock.

and  here is the finished product which was also inspired by my
Scrappy friends Challenge sketch combined with Rochelle's this or that.
I stuck close to the sketch and Used a leaf stick pin that I bought back in 2014. Yikes glad to get that used but have so many more.  I've been ruthlessly cleaning out my stash and found this cute Stamp set that I've never used so I'm offering it up as a little extra goodness for hopping along with us.
Leave me a quick comment  about what you have unused in your stash for your chance to win.

Thanks so much for hopping along with us! Next up on the hop is Tina.
Here is the order of the blog hop in case you get lost along the way:
