I love to... at Lasting memories

This weeks challenge at lasting memories is to show us what you love to do.

The thing that I like to do most is be on the water at camp.  I don't know if it's because  I spend most of my days in and around the water at the pool where I work or I'm just drawn to water.  There is just some magnetic pull I can't explain.

I found this combo of Challenges over at GrandDiva's Creative Corner
The June Sketch

and the June mood board over at
I went with the colors in the tapes and the text reminded me of camp (campfire and Smores)

I definitely used a larger square photo.
Actually it's a 8x10 collage that I cut of the boarders to make it square.
I choose to use a green frame to match the papers I used.

Most of it is from my last June TSR kit Photo Play- DayDream
Multi dot  front and back (orange- yellow)
Enjoy the ride back (stripes)

Stickers love this and Happiness

the rest of the paper is Photo Play- Happy Glamper
my NSD gift from TSR

Journal stripe back (pink)
Alpha stickers and circle flower

Ashley's 14th

Hi I'm back again with lesson 2 from BPC Crafty summer 2015.  I'm using the following sketch, but didn't follow the challenge to the letter as it was supposed to be a summer themed layout.
I think I came close as my daughters birthday is Labor Day and I did use the Photo Play Happy Glamper paper. It has all the rich color pallets of summer and the cloud paper too.  If that weren't enough summer for you I added the sparkly letters too.

That's it for tonight.  I'll be back tomorrow with the newest reveal for Lasting Memories.
Not sure when I'll get to lesson 3 Explore digital papers in project life.

Pre K graduation

I'm having fun checking out the free classes over at Big picture Classes.  I'm working my way through the Craft Party Summer 2015 workshops.  Each lesson the BPC teachers will bring a new challenge inspired by the classes they’ve taught.  So far I completed the Contrast lesson.  Here's what I was asked to do: create a layout  with one contrasting element using a black or dark background and white letters (alphabets or hand-lettering).

I created several layers of contrast on this layout by going with the assigned dark background and matting my photos on white card stock.  I also contrasted liner shapes with circles as well as contrasted cool colors (blues and greens) with warm colors ( red and orange)

Now on to lesson 2 which is a sketch challenge.

Nye beach

I wasted a lot of time flipping through sketches tonight.  I liked a bunch of them but none really went with the photos I had on hand.  So here's my latest 2 layouts from scratch and a small bit of scraps.  Happy to report that I have used up all of the Simple stories Carpe Diem April Kit from TSR.

Can you believe this super overcast and cool day was mid August of 2013.
That's the Oregon coast for you.   These photos are from Nye beach in New Port Oregon

and here's the absolute last of the scraps.  I made the stipe of turquois look longer by cutting it and tuck just a bit under the black and white scrap.  I wasn't sure how I was going too use the ticket as the front side had a party hat on it.  Washi tape to the rescue.
Anyway that's it for now.  Off to bed so I'm fresh and ready for our Mystery trip in the morining

Eric's 5th

My production speed of layouts has slowed down a bit due to my summer work schedule.  Off to work by 7 and not home till 4.  Going to try and squeeze in some crafty time in the evenings but the weather is nice and the pool is calling.  Anyway here's a combo challenge that I did using the sketch over at Stuck and the 5-4-3-2-1 challenge at use your stuff

here's the sketch

I used one less photo as the challenge at Use your stuff only calls for 3.
Got to use larger squares to so defiantly a good move to go with less

For Use your stuff:
5 patterns,  4 colors, 3 photos, 2 (at least) embellishments and 1 washi tape.

For my layout I used 5 pattern papers which are: the patterned base of yellow free hand gingham
orange paper with green dots, Green paper with darker green open spots, black with white polka dots and a light green with green an orange hash marks(on the one leaf in the cluster of three)

My 4 colors are:Yellow, orange, green and black

I used 3 photos

My 2 embellishments are the felt and button flowers ( did use three of them but they are all the same size and style) and the black sparkle ribbon

1 washi tape which is the black and whit stripe

Super fun challenges and used up some more of my stash.  Loving it

Target shooting

Good evening and Happy Father's Day to those male crafters out there.  I wanted to share the latest layout I've been working on.  It's from Scrapbook challenges Sketch #481

SBC_Sketch481

I stuck pretty close to the sketch other than the 1st photo is slightly larger then the other two.  I wanted to show the size disparity between my second grade daughter and her college aged instructor.
It's really noticeable since they are shooting back to back. If I were to have cut the photo to 3.5 inches I would have lost some of Killeen's arm span perspective.  Actually everyone was bigger then Danielle as she was the only second grader in a middle school aged class/club.

When I started pulling paper for this layout I realized that I have been gravitating towards kits as all the colors and patterns work well together, so I got a little derailed in my creative process as I ruthlessly purged my paper, stickers and embellishments.  If I did not absolutely love the pattern/ color or thought I'd use it out it went.  I have a nice pile of stuff for our up coming yard sale for sure.
I also spent sometime organizing embellishments and stickers that I had previously separated out form the paper packs I bought from Creative memories.  Why parcel it out to all these different containers and binders if they are intended to be used with the coordinating papers.  I think I'm going to try my hand at making a few counterfeit kits too.

In the meantime I finished this layout using Creative memories "A year to remember paper pack and embellishments"  I did add the turquois washi tape, blue pearl dots, solid colored cardstock for the title and a CM journal card not from the set, but everything else came from my kit if you will

I like how it turned out and how much faster I scrap when I'm not digging for the right combination of papers and bling.  Thanks for reading this far and I hope to be back soon.  We'll see as I go to my summer work schedule at the pool.  Yikes 7:30am classes.
Better get to bed

"What I love about myself" at Lasting memories

This weeks challenge at lasting memories is to tell us what you love about yourself.
Go ahead and brag a bit, I know I am.

This past December I was honored to have been selected as volunteer of the month for Child and youth services for my extraordinary community leadership and dedication to
Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington.

Then in April I was invited to a Volunteer of the Year luncheon as an Honoree.
What a fabulous event, to be a part of.

The photos in my layout are from the luncheon

I scrap lifted this fab layout from Rochelle Spears using my May Bella Blvd. Kit from TSR
I used the backside of Tourist Spot (black w/ white arrows)
Perfect weather(clouds) and backside of Baggage Claim (color stripes)
also used the everyday adventures tag from the paper pieces

I added the super hero sound circles from the cup cake toppers at our table.  My girl friends that came to support me for the day all thought I was goofy taking the topper, but they look great on the page as embellishments.

My title is cut form the actual certificate that was presented to me at the luncheon.

and here's a close up of the article from the volunteer of the month back in December.

I love being a volunteer for Girl Scouts

TSR be our guest for June

I've been plugging away at the Scrap Room Kits and made this layout using the June be our guest sketch.

I stuck fairly close to the original sketch other then the circle embellishment touching the main body of photos.  I did however use an ampersand as it looks rather like a cursive E and my son is Eric.  Also added in a much smaller circle flair next to it

For the small photo at the bottom I layered several paper bits and popped it up on some foam dots.  I hid the words "happy birthday" on the yellow circle with the arrow and "you are my" with the photo.  Love how it turned out and that I was able to mix three different kits to get this layout finished.
I used paper from May Jillibean Soup:
Herbed Hola front (text) and back (multi dot)
Aged aloha back ( yellow gingham)

 May kit Fancy pants Attwell:
flair and ampersand

June Kit Echo Park Petticoats & Pinstripes:
paper bits Yellow globe circle and brown/tan arrow

Speed scrapping...?

I was just reading on the TSR facebook forum about length of time it takes to make a layout.
I'm all over the place depending on if I'm using a sketch and a kit, from scratch and a kit or from some magical combination of my imagination and digging through my stash.  Currently I'm trying to set aside 20-30 minutes every morning to work on a layout or post to my blog.

here's what I did in 30 minutes this morning.  No sketch and no kit but I did use a collection so I guess it's the same as there was no mixing and matching product.  For this layout I used some
Photo Play- Happy Glamper

the colors work so well for an Easter layout

I used a mix of the tag Happy with mini alpha squares for the title.  The cast off from the happy tags was stuck to some paper and trimmed to make a tag for the date.

border sticker and a couple of quick punches to make tags for the page too.

Thanks for taking a peak and I'd love to hear how long it takes your to create a layout start to last placed embellishment

Let's get sketchy- June wk2

I'm playing along with Let's get sketchy
for June week 2
Here's the sketch:

and here's what I did with my June kit from TSR

I switched it up a bit by using the paper clip instead of the tag,
added some flair and chip board stickers

I also used two photos instead of one but cut them down and matted them to be about a 4X6 photo

close up of the journaling

I used American Crafts Starshine
Exploration front (globes) and back ( green stripe)
Kepler front (blue star) and back ( yellow hex)
Hubble front ( blue with spots)
AC clip, flair and stickers

Thanks for taking a look, now to finish off using the last June Kit- Photo Play- Day Dreams

1st derby car

I really struggled with this layout as I wanted to use another of my June kits from TSR, but I didn't have a set layout arrangement in mind. It came out okay and I love the color pallet from Echo park Petticoats and pinstripes. Another layout done and photos out of the box where no one would see them so I guess its a win.

For this layout I used b.s. of Mustaches (blue)
Boy stripe front ( multi stripe) and back (red)
Lad plaid front ( plaid) and back (yellow)
and ephemera

Right side of layout

close up of the little paper bits

Left side of layout

more ephemera and my journaling

two more kits to go.

Next up is going to be photoplay as the colors fit a mood board I've been eyeing over at

We'll see what I can get done in the next few days as I have work training and end of year events for the kids

Happy mail and a layout

My June scrap room kits came in the mail today along with an extra bonus for participating in TSR and Scrap our stash NSD challenges.  I was the TSR winner of Happy Glamper.  Can't wait to dive into that paper collection but in the mean time I whipped out this LO using the Pink Paisley kit I got in the mail today.  The pink ombré paper was a perfect fit to go with my daughters tie died t shirt and the multi colored dots look like mini targets.

I did some letters by hand as I couldn't find the right sized scale in my massive alpha collection.  Time to pare it down as I don't use them that much.

I'm off of work tomorrow and if it's raining I know what I'll be doing.  Already off to a good start with one kit touched and used.  3 more to go and lots of time till the July kit comes.

Sketches in thyme #203

Squeezed in an early morning layout before my trip to the dentist.  I managed to use paper from my fourth  May TSR kit.  Just in time before the much anticipated arrival of the June kit.  My goal is to use every kit before the next arrives.  I didn't use as much as I would have liked though and you'll have to wait for the June 19th Lasting Memories reveal to see wait I did with it the Bella Blvd kit In the meantime here's what I did with sketch #203.

I replaced the circle elements with snowflakes and left out a title, but other then that it's pretty close.  I might go back and add a title.  Either  Puzzle Break, Puzzled or Winter Break.

For this layout I used  Fancy pants Attwell:
playing (Red with White) and backside (yellow stripe)
backside of Energy (blue)
and Back side of Stunning (solid red)

I took the foam dot off the flair button to bring it down closer to my photos and threw in a few stickers too.

Freaky fast Friday- June

Hi, I'm playing along with The Scrap Room latest formula for Freaky Fast Friday.

Here are the specifics:

and here is what I did:

I added a photo mat behind the 4 (3x3) photos to make it feel more like a collage then  separate photos, so I bent the rules a bit.  For a fast formula I really struggled with placement.  I think it was because of the number of photos but I didn't have just one that spoke to me as this is the photo that capture Thanksgiving especially since I wanted to showcase using the family heirlooms that we received from
My husbands wonderful Aunt Diane as she was losing her final battle with breast cancer.

close up of some of the neat sticker embellishments that came in the on trend kit

So far I've managed to create with all but one of the May kits and I know the June one will be here soon so I better get onto that fourth kit now

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look

Anything goes at Lasting memories

Anything goes at Lasting memories, well almost anything.  Carrying on the theme of "all about Me" your layout has to do with something about you.  I had so many ideas and not a lot of time to scrap so I figured if I was going to play along with the throw back Thursday at the Scrap Room Facebook group then why not make it a real throw back and use a photo of me from the fall of 1977.

I figure this must be from my kindergarten class photo as I would have been almost 5

here's the sketch from TSR

Along with the sketch I had to use a kit from April 2016 or earlier.
I think I nailed it with this prefect combination of 3 TSR kits from April 2016.

From Doodle Bug anchors away
I used the back side of Ships Ahoy (red /whit stripe)
I used the back side of 50 knots (green)

From Elle's Studio little moments
I used the back side  top stripe from  both Bloom ( gray with words)
and teal with hearts (my favorite)
I used bloom for the banner behind the photo
adorable wood veneer banner

From Simple stories Carpe Diem
I fussy cut around the flowers from brand new day
and chip board frame

Amazing how well the all mix together and I used up some more of my stash.  Now to get moving on the May kits before the June one arrives.

Wish I had more time but need to get my gear together for camp.
